Man, I woke a bit earlier than planned 'cause I was having weird race spectator dreams!
Who knew there even were such things?!
See you all in a couple of hours!

You guys are gonna do great! Just remember not to cramp up severely at 20.5 and you're gonna fly!

It is done. Good day.
It was nice to meet you Q, and nice to see you along the way Zoom.
Thanks for the support.
Sorry I missed you all at the finish. I was looking. Hope it went well.

So who all ran this today, was there a roster on here that I missed? I know that Q & Cory ran. Anybody else?
Cory, judging by your Motionbased log it looks like it was a little bit windy. Did that bother you? BTW, your intervals look awesome. Congrats. Now lets here all the details.

Cory!!! It looks like you had a fabulous day! Wow, look at your time and your gorgeous splits! Wow, so proud of you! I wish I would have seen more of you, but man...there are parts of that course that are faster on foot than by car--seriously!
What a great day! I was more than a little jealous of you all. I really hope next year's timing is better for me to run GR. I loved Milwaukee and having my family there, but running with my MI RA peeps would be so fabulous!

The wind was only a problem in one place, the 23rd mile... which coincidently, has a sharp little uphill. You can see how my HR went from 180 in the 23rd mile to 185 in the 24th. And then of course my pace went to s**t in the 25th mile. I'll post a report later. Thanks again everyone.

Nice meeting you too, Cory, and GREAT RACE! Damn, dude. You looked so strong on the couple of out and backs that I saw you on. Thanks for the "Smile, Q" too. It made me laugh a bit and helped me get through the next coupla miles.
ZZ, you were awesome today, and thanks again for carting Rebecca around w/you. It's been a rough summer for us and it meant a lot to have her out there for the support. And the SIGNS!!!! You really do rule.
The goal today was to finish, which I did in 4:05-ish. I'll know better when the results are posted. I was "hoping" to go just under four hours, but I knew I didn't really put in the work to earn it, so I am very happy with my time, especially as it's my first one.
I'll be back...

Hey, 26.2 Q has a cool ring to it! You should change your username!
"didn't really put in the work to earn it"...whatevs. You kicked ass. Next time you WILL be under 4 (and I WILL be under 4:30)! And they always say to take the goal time for the first race and add 10 minutes, so I'd call your time fantastic!
It was my pleasure to get Rebecca around the course to see you. Spectating at GR is sorta tricky and I'm pretty familiar with GR, so I was glad to help. And Dane and I would have been out there, anyhow, so it was no trouble at all. It was nice to have another adult along for those hours.
And making those signs was a blast. I was totally cackling like a wicked witch as I made those!

You need to post pics of them. I gotta admit, by 18 I didn't have the mental wherewithall to comprehend them!
Running makes me stoopid.

26.2 Q
Your supposed to swear off from marathons after your first, aren't you? Zoomy?
The pickle juice musta puckered you a little bit when I saw you near 16. This was the first year I drank that stuff. I think it may have helped a little.
Nice race Q. We'll do it again. Recover well.

Oh, hell, no! I have a score to settle with 26.2. It was mean to me and threw a spear in my right calf and groin the first time around--costing me at least 20 minutes. Next time around it's goin' DOWN!
That pickle juice thing...seriously, had I had that at about the halfway mark at Milwaukee I'm certain I wouldn't have battled cramps. Next time around I plan to eat a little single-serving pack of Pringles pre-race (salt and carbs), then carry one to eat maybe at mile 10 or so. Also am planning to drink nothing but that Gatorade Endurance stuff for longest runs. I would have eaten salt packets of someone had handed me some.

My first two marathons I battled cramps. I even carried electrolyte tabs in the 2nd one, they didn't help. The last two marathons have been much better. My right calf tried to lock up today a few times around 25, but nothing too bad. I'm not sure what the difference is, other then a few more miles in training.
Next fall 3:10 or bust.
