Hamilton or Goodlife. (Read 139 times)

Considering entering my first marathon and since my son will be living in Hamilton by fall (he will be going to university there) he is planning to run Hamilton instead of Toronto.

Any suggestions about which would be better as a first effort?  (I will be racing, contrary to the normal advice to enjoy the first one!)

I also had thoughts of running the half at Goodlife, then the full in Hamilton, but I think that's expecting too much.

    PBs since age 60:  5k- 24:36, 10k - 47:17. Half Marathon- 1:42:41.

                                        10 miles (unofficial) 1:16:44.

I'm running the Half at Good Life......

I'm running the Full at Hamilton.

I see an opportunity for beers........

Daddyo is going to pace me at Hamilton.

tuf_aint_enough is going to BQ at Hamilton....

Simon and Son are going to be at Hamilton......

Lets all drink some beers after the Marathon.

Jason, are you running both events as 100% race effort

I am a bit concerned about trying to do that.....

I am sure my son will have a beer, and I will have wine-or maybe beer, they say running yourfirst marathon is a life changing experience.

        PBs since age 60:  5k- 24:36, 10k - 47:17. Half Marathon- 1:42:41.

                                            10 miles (unofficial) 1:16:44.

I'm not sure what my race goals will be..... but I generally think I'll use the GL Half as a fitness test.

I don't plan to race the marathon.. I just want to go sub 4 hours .......

So i guess the answer to your question is that I won't be running either event at race effort.
