Xenia Marathon (Read 46 times)

Hello Portland!
Hey Guys,

Just wanted to share the news that i absolutely ROCKED the marathon i ran in Xenia, OH today (Sunday).

My old PR was 3:43 here in Chicago, but i ran that thing in 3:13:13 today. Yay!

It felt good to have a real great race. The weather was perfect, cool and overcast. My PR was in 2006, and i really wanted to beat it in Chicago 2007 (and was pretty well trained too), but the heat that year kill me (and most others).

So after a difficult training period (i was just busy with other things, etc.) I'm pretty stoked that i came in a 3:13 (i was shooting for 3:25 or 3:30).

Fun race, i'll drop the details, and post some pictures later when i finally type stuff up.

Yay!

Talk about exceeding your expectations! Holy cow Chris, that is just amazing! But I'm not surprised, your training runs have been very speedy! I'm glad it all came together for you! I don't think you are anywhere near done improving yet either! Scary!

Thanks for sharing the great news! Smile

I'm jealous not only of your time, but that the numbers of your PR are going to be so easy to remember. My first instinct was to credit the beard, but it's probably all due to your smart training.

Awesome running, Chris!

Awesome job Chris!!!! Great pictures too! As you know, I was quite giddy when I hauled myself out of bed to your PR text message- you rule!!!!

Also, Chris and I both ran the Spring 50 K this morning. yes, Chris ran the 50 K 5 or 6 days after his PR marathon. And he did awesome! I'll let you fill in the details Chris.

I'm also really happy w/ my race b/c my foot miraculously hung in there. It hurt for a few miles in the middle and then totally felt ok for the rest. In fact, I've never felt better in a race I think! I even picked it up at the end and ran a 3:54 last half mile (not normally speedy, but for this it was). I PRed with a 4:38:40 and was 4th woman overall, 1st in my age group and I think 22nd including men. What a fun race! I feel much more confident that I could do a 50 miler now.

I don't know about you Chris but I am sunburnt as all heck now! Maybe laying on the beach for 2 hrs after the race w/ Brendan and Andy really sealed the deal but except for the area around my eyes, everything else is red. ha ha. Smile

Hope everyone's doing great!

Hello Portland!
Nice job today Katie! First in your age group, i think that's so cool. And I just want to say that i knew all along that you were going to beat your previous time. Congrats!

(I'm going to put some real notes in soon)
