Lakeshore Path (Read 36 times)

I recently read The Time Traveler's Wife; it's set in Chicago, and one of the main characters is a runner (although running is only a tangential part of the book). Every time the Path came up in the story I thought of Chris and Katie, and all the running you guys do by the water.

Good job, too, on your races there!

Hello Portland!
Nice! If you ever get out this way, you'll have to let me know, and we'll go for a run out there. I may be out there today in fact. Weather's nice here.

How is that book anyway? I've heard of it, but haven't read it.

Actually, i'm currently reading: "To the Edge: A Man, Death Valley, and the Mystery of Endurance" which Katie gave me.
Ah, there's nothing more exciting than science. You get all the fun of sitting still, being quiet, writing down numbers, paying attention...Science has it all. -Skinner
Kirk Johnson is an awesome writer--I read To the Edge about a year and a half ago. If you get to see Running on the Sun, it documents the same year and briefly shows Kirk experiencing the states of mind and body he describes in the book.

I'd also recommend The Time Traveler's Wife; it's a bit like Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, but somewhat less disturbing. It's more of a love story but without the overdone boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy finds girl structure. I think a film is coming out for it.

My family and I don't travel often at this point in our lives, but it'd be a blast to go for a run with you sometime.

I think Carl recommended To the Edge to me, actually! And then I passed it onto Chris when I moved. I saw on GoodReads that you finished it Chris- I meant to talk about it with you tonight. I love that book!!! Thanks for the rec Carl and now we've all read it :) Has Bob? I bet he'd like it too- or I don't know why I'm talking about him as though he might not read it- I'm out of practice on forum writing.... oh, and running for that matter.
My hope is that they chop off my left foot and give me a fake one- I keep reading about how they're even faster! :)
