Resting HR back to normal today. Thought I'd take it easy, so I just did 35 minutes. HR dictated some walking to keep at my HR plan. Body feels good though. I'm going to do more walking than running the rest of the week. This has been one crazy trip this year.

Rest day. 5k tomorrow
Got the urge to run, but for now I'm staying in the run/rest/run/rest cycle. Don't want to take any chances. Feeling quite strong and RHR staying in the 46-47 range. Might sneak in some crosstraining. Have a great 5k, Clay..hey that rhymes!..don't get me started. lg
3 miles. Breaking in the Nike Free 5.0s this week. No complaints after two 3 milers. Had a mild case of PF (I think) for the last 3-4 months. Running a lot on trails lately seems to have healed it for the most part. I also got a good neutral trail shoe and ditched the Superfeet greens. The Montrail Hardrock '09 trail shoes are so comfortable and light that I'm considering running my marathon in them. I'm now convinced that the shoe/Superfeet combination I was using contributed to the problem in the first place.

Went up to the mountain and ran 3 downhill repeats on a hill aprox .54 miles long. I pretty much walked everything else as I tried to keep my HR at MAF-10 on the way back up.

P.S. Michael Jackson was at his greatest in the Jackson Five, and was good thru Thriller. After that...I'm not really sure what all that was, but it wasn't the picture of a mentally stable person.

Jimmy,
Funny, my wife said the same thing. And I agreed but I just thought it was an age thing.

Outlaw,
That's not much of a "spike" in heart rate - I don't think you need to concern yourself too much with it. Going uphill always makes my heart rate go up - I used to not let it go above MAF even when going up a hill; I was completely strict for several months. The question is if it does you any good to stay below MAF at all times year round? What is one trying to accomplish?
I don't mean to break your self-dicipline with this question. I do think there is benefit to training at low heart rates and to periodically stay completely below MAF at all times.
