Decker Challenge 12/12
Got a 5.77mi run in this morning in a pair of Crocs. After running in them at Cooper Lake thought I'd see how they'd work at home - they did fine. Less left foot big toe numbness than most of my running shoes - which are heavier and more expensive!
After 2 mi warm up tried holding hr=107, old maf. Felt better than running at hr=112 and more sustainable. The route was hilly in spots which explains higher pace in first mi.
Will run tomorrow with hr=102 as target. Am thinking that using maf=112 might be to high, its 80% of my max hr. Am still testing... Friday is a rest day with Sat being long run. Am still thinking how I want to run on Sat. Might try continuous running with hr in 102-107 range, allowed to climb to 112 if hilly.
bob e v 2012 goals: keep on running! Is there anything more than that?
Finish 2 halves, 3M Half 1/29 and probably Decker Challenge in Dechistory: blessed heart attack 3/15/2008; c25k july 2008 first 5k 10/26/2008, 62nd birthday; 1st 10k 2/28/2009 - 50 wks from heart attack to 10k; 1st Half Marathon 11/9/09 20 months from heart attack! !

Which type of crocs? I have an image of those big plastic ones, but I guess they make a lot of different types!
I just did my first run in my brand new Nike free 5.0s.
Kept it to 2 miles (around 135 HR avg) to get used to them, but they felt great, more natural for the type of running I;m trying to do (ie more Chi style) and felt faster.
Plan to use them for every third run (short only initially) to allow my feet to get used to them.

Don't remember the style name, maybe Santa Cruz, but they are like canvas loafers with a couple of breathing eyelets in the arch area. Not the big open sandal like ones.
Got my run in yesterday but had hrm problems throughout. not the best of runs tho. Felt hungry and tired, and distracted by the hrm. Tried to run by feel but still need hrm feedback so was pissed. Ran the same route as Wed but the data to see difference in pace at lower hr. But data is all screwed up.
rest day today. Long run tomorrow. Shooting for 2 hrs with hr around 102. The last 2 hr run I did with hr=97 and as has been discussed is probably to low. Am still not sure if hr=112 is what I should use for maf. It felt like it was to high when I ran at it. Will hve to continue to experiment.

I have a pair of those Crocs. Tideline.Youngest D works at Crocs. Usually get a pair on gift days.
that's the name! Thanks for tickling the memory cells... They are comfortable everyday shoes for sure.
Good luck on the Peachtree Ron! I didn't realize we were in the same neck of the woods last week. Might have tried to get a run in together if I could what with running the grandkids around. Maybe next time I'm in Suwanee.
New MAF Test this morning. Indoors on a treadmill. 1% 68F MAF-5
I didn't run all week due to work related issues/ stress. Last run was 9miles on Sunday.
Decided to check current fitness. Ran a test indoors on a treadmill @ MAF-5.
mile pace(mm) ave. HR

Once home I realized I can not use the #s to compare to test results from last year. My previous base building MAF test were done at age based MAF not sub-MAF. Oh well, at least its a starting point.

Yes, I'm plodding along on your roadway, but please be aware that sidewalks, as well as bridges and overpasses freeze, long before surface roads.
Geez.
C-R,
Nice to be back! Well, I've generally been around all along, just not active?
Certainly have noticed the great work that you and others have been doing!
I got another tune rattling around in my gourd. Might bounce out soon, but not quite sure yet.

Ah, what the heck.
Am I the only one that responds to their own posts?? Akin to talking to oneself???? Yikes!
Anywho, as mentioned, a tune..
Way back when, the Stones, Hendrix, Zeppelin, and Steppenwolf all resonated. Not so much did Christopher Cross, the Carpenters, Melanie, et al. (Obsession with such melodies wasn't that hip while chasing foxes.) Nowadays, I even enjoy a little John Denver, when the mood is right. My hammer, anvil, and stirrup seem to have undergone a metamorphosis. Running, Sunshine, and foxes continue to brighten my days. Now isn't that an enduring trifecta?!
