What is you resting heart rate? (Read 615 times)

    Anywhere from 48 to 52 on any typical morning. That is down from around 58-60 six months ago before I got serious about running regularly. I also measure my 1 minute recovery rate from time to time after a run. That is usually in the range o 30 beats.

    2012 Goals:

    5k = sub 22:00

    10k = sub 45:00

    HM = sub 1:40:00

    Run = 2000 miles

    Bike = 3000 miles

    Swim = 130 miles

      Mine is usually around 44 but since I've come back from my break it has been in the high 40's to low 50's. It is never very low in the evenings although If I've been sitting reading or watching TV it will usually run around 56-58.

       

       

        My was 47 at my annual physical last week.

        Run until the trail runs out.

        Decker Challenge 12/12

          My hr range is drug and fitness induced. Resting HR is 45-50. HAve set off alarms for low hr during colonoscopy recovery. Walking the dog it ranges in the 60's, low 70's. Brisk walk raises it to 78-80, very hard to get above 80 during warm up walks, have to be going uphill. Slow jogs reach 87, maf-10 hr=97 (maf = 180-63-10 =107 for meds).

          history: blessed heart attack 3/15/2008; c25k july 2008 first 5k 10/26/2008, 62nd birthday; 1st 10k 2/28/2009 - 50 wks from heart attack to 10k; 1st Half Marathon 11/9/09 20 months from heart attack! !

            RHR (upon awakening in the morning) :

            age 40:   37 (typical high value... lowest ever = 33) (in the best shape of my life)

            age 70:   50 (sad... running pace a lot slower, too...)


            Funny story: In a pre-college physical, the family doctor had me do a "Harvard Step Test".  This was before I ever did anything athletic.  HR sitting in a chair 60.  HR after stepping up and down on/off a step thing for a while 78.  HR 3 minutes after stopping 58.  At the University, they had me report to the infirmary because they thought the numbers must be wrong (as if some country doctor didn't know how to do the test.)  They checked my HR and said "Oh, ok" ... and that was that.

              Has anyone ever noticed a correlation between resting HR at the doctor's office and how pretty the nurse is? Oh, I must be thinking about my blood pressure readings . . . Nevermind.
