Long Run Lunatics

Marathon Program (Read 305 times)

q day

Lunatics, I'm doing another Marathon program at D Rowes which is scheduled for 7 January. It should start around 6:30pm and be a lot like last year. The major difference is that there will still be 15 weeks before St. Louis, Boston and other spring marathons. So, hopefully time to use some of the advice given at the program. Here's how it's shaping up: Matt Laye: The importance of nueromuscular adaptations for endurance running (ie why marathoners need to do some sprint training) Steve S-F will then talk about how to adapt your racing plan to the course, with a Boston course focus. I'll also ask him to give his thoughts on the Heart of America course. Steve McIntyre: Race Strategy? The topic is still up in the air, but this was my suggestion when he wanted one. Just wanted to let you all know first! Hope you all can be there! Darrin

I've decided in the last 20 minutes that I am...because I just got diagnosed with Asthma. Sounds bad, but I've wondered why I just haven't been able to run well or breath well since a cold about 7 weeks ago. Well the test results arn't in yet but I just took a hit of albuterol (short acting bronchial dialator) 20 minutes ago and MAN CAN I BREATH! I'm going to do a long run in the morning and then start planning a comeback! The wildcard now is the MBA program I'm in. It has been taking up a lot of time and I hope I can juggle the two goals at once on top of a new position with my company. I'm also hoping this program will help motivate me to a spring marathon! Thanks for asking! Darrin
