Who's in for the Human Race? (Read 309 times)

The traditionalist in me mourns the fact that this race has become such a shadow of its former self. Begun back in the glorious days of the running boom, this race once fielded over 1200 participants and is now lucky if it cracks 80 runners these days. This year marks the 30th running of this event and will be featuring a new venue (Bethel Park) from years' past. So who's going to be there Saturday?
    Running since January 2005

    Upcoming races:
    Hospital Hill Half-Marathon
    Great Sandbagger 10K
    Heart of America Marathon

Why do you suppose that's so? Change of venue? Change of sponsor?

Funny you should ask; I just posted this elsewhere: Andy, Dan S. and I will be at Bethel Park at 7:15 for a warmup. Gratuituous plug: we just had lunch at Roly Poly. Dan had the #65, I had the #37, and Andy had the #23. http://www.orderrolypoly.com/

I just checked out the new route for this year's race: reminds me of the Tayside 22 route portion in the Highlands. Nice straightaway finish with the last 1.3 miles being all on Southampton and Bethel.

But it felt more like the old Tryathletics Jingle Bell/Cranberry Crawl route, didn't it?
