Elly and I will not be arriving until late Saturday night (after midnight). Here are some of the things I would like to do while I am in Boston. Perhaps some of you other travelers will want to join me. 1)
Sunday morning run of 3 miles at easy pace (9:00)
. Like many of you, I am staying at the Days Inn-Boston there on Soldiers Field Road. Judging from the map, it appears that there is a nice trail right there at the hotel which runs along the Charles River in either direction. Looks like a wonderful place for a relaxing run. Ideally, I'd like to get this run in early enough to... 2)
Watch the Women's Olympic Trials Marathon on Sunday morning
. The race starts at 8:00 AM, but I'm not necessarily needing to be there for the very start as I think it makes more sense to find a decent spot on the course and watch the speedy ladies fly by. 3)
Big Lunch/Dinner on Monday
. One of the most gratifying experiences of completing a marathon is sharing the war stories afterwards over heaping piles of food. Someone needs to stake out an appropriate restaurant and we can plan a meeting time. 4)
Tuesday morning recovery run of 4 miles at easy pace (9:30)
. If anyone else is going to be around on Tuesday morning, you might as well join me as I hobble alongside the Charles River in hopes of loosening up the ole legs. Since we will not be renting a car, I haven't yet figured out how I am going to get to the bus pick-up spot in downtown Boston on the morning of the race. I'll probably call the hotel and see if they offer shuttle services. I guess a taxi will always be a possiblity as well. If anyone else has any ideas, please pass them on to me. 12 days to go!
Running since January 2005
Upcoming races:
Hospital Hill Half-Marathon
Great Sandbagger 10K
Heart of America Marathon
