Where are you in training? (Read 469 times)

I have a hard marathon on Sunday. I plan to begin training this afternoon. Does Higdon have a four-day plan? More importantly, should I wear an iPod?

I'm not really sure how to answer all those hard questions but I think your success or failure will depend on whether or not you wear a heart rate monitor and pay strict attention. As long as you measure your effort by the data and not by feel you should be fine.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Lemme guess...it was another one of Trent's insane ideas, huh. Evil grin

Yes. Day 1 - Run. Smile. Feel confident. Brag a lot Day 2 - start praying Day 3 - Start Globuling Day 4 - Drink a lot and say WTH, it is only a marathon.

But then of course, if I dod, I would love to have more so I know where you are coming from Smile
That's right - it's ALWAYS relative... I'm hoping for a 3:09 this fall and I know plenty of people that would consider a 3:09 to be a tremendous failure... but if I get it, I'll be shouting it from the rooftops. Smile

14 weeks to go for me. Am going to see a specialist foot Dr tomorrow to see if I can get a fix for my annoying 'ball of foot' pain and my recently acquired 'top of same foot' pain. Am using the same program from my first marathon but tweaking the long runs to include a 3rd 20miler - or should that be a 22miler??

Actually, no. I had to twist Trent's arm on this one. He will, however, be providing the transportation. And he's managed to turn our stupidity three weeks later into an official race. Come join us Sept. 21st for that fun. I have a heart rate monitor, so I'll be fine.

JK, I'm concerned that you may be underprepared for this marathon. I think you seriously need to consider wearing a fuel belt. This will allow you, and this Trent character, to take plenty of liquids, carbo gels etc with you. (Take extra in a fanny pack if you need to).

                    Go Pre!

JK, you should run 27 miles the day before. This way, the 26 miles on marathon day will seem easier.

I am training for the Richmond Marathon, November 15th, which will be my first. Training is going okay-ran 50 miles last week for the first time, with an 18 miler. Plan to get up to 55 mile range next month. As it is my first and hope for it not to be my last, I plan to run very conservately and am not shooting for a particular time.
