Wed Apr 15 Runs and Workouts (tax day!) (Read 509 times)

Hi impressive runners! Hope your runs are good today. I have reached a new place, where every time I run, I don't completely wipe myself out. Yeah! Hey Pro! Hi from Ma Econo aka Woods Lady. Where have you been, and how are you doing? I have been looking for you on this forum. Hope everything is going well with you. Yep - taxes in a couple of days ago, and filed electronicly for the first time. Like biketm, I don't let the gov. get our money any sooner than necessary. Two cat. It is good it is bursitis. I had that in my R hip thirty years ago, and would have bet big bucks against ever doing any running ever - even walking any distance at all. Now I am actually running 8Ks, and looking at 10K by end of year. The shots can be magic for you, and they work fast. Good luck, and keep the rest of your body as strong and healthy as possible. Good Luck. Tammy, you are so nice and so organized. Will you be in Eugene May 3rd? Come on the 2nd - there is a 5K and also a kids run for your cute little boy. Ribs. Me too: "I am patient, but inside I am growling and pawing the earth" Love it! Woods Lady aka MaEcono
Hi Ma! Unfortunately, I won't be in Eugene this year. And after being there the last two yrs, I know I will miss out on lots of fun. I'm running a local 5 mile race in GP on the 2nd and just decided that with the travel and expenses entailed for the Seattle R&R weekend, that I would stay home this year. Plus, just two wks after I get back from Seattle R&R, we are leaving for Seattle again for a week's family vacation, so our extra play money is tied up for those two events.

(((Perch))) Hope you have fun spectating and partying in Boston if that 10% chance you can run doesn't pan out. I usually send in our taxes on the last day because we usually owe money. Well this year we're getting a refund, which is not all good news because it means we didn't make as much money as last year, but anyway I sent in the tax forms last week. 4.4 trail miles last night after work, and 5.1 trail miles today at lunch. I thought I was gonna blow away during miles 3-5 today - holy moley! Note to self: on windy days don't pick a trail with no trees or buildings!

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

I'm gonna guess a Martin Vintage Series Eric Clapton model.

            my newest pet

{{{Perch}}} well at least it is nice to know you can defer! And you'll get to see Kara Goucher too I hope. I couldn't stop looking at her picture on the front of RW, and really, I am not inclined that way. Had my physical today and did not enjoy fasting but eventually I got used to being hungry. My doctor seemed unconcerned about my inner ear infection symptoms and when I asked her "so do you think that is what I had/have?", she said "sounds like it". And she went thru a checklist of things and said, "so your heart still beating?", I guess she is pretty unconcerned about that too. I'll try a run tomorrow. Wishing my favourite Wenatchee marathon runner a most excellent breakthru race on Saturday!!!

"During a marathon, I run about two-thirds of the time. That's plenty." - Margaret Davis, 85 Ed Whitlock regarding his 2:54:48 marathon at age 73, "That was a good day. It was never a struggle."

              Giddyup.

I ran 12.5 miles this morning lookin for seals. Found no seals. 4.4 recovery miles (aka "go to the post office") on tap for this afternoon. Oh crap. It's already afternoon. Hmmmm.

They were all me. Me on the mandolin, me on the guitar, me on the upright bass. The guy in the cowboy hat....not me.

yeah to the Saint on her first 14 miler eVERRRRRRRRRR. I am mighty proud of that sistah!! Back from massage, ohhhhhh what a blisssssss. I should have scheduled an afternoon off to really enjoy the aftermath...but oh well...can't have it all, right? go Boston runners go!!!!!!!!!! We are so proud of each of you!!!!!!!!! Now, don't party too hard, OK? and...who will drink an extra glass of the Beer's beer for me? Wink

Ah Boston. It’s the Carneghie Hall for runners. Mostly because you do get there through “practice, practice, practice” but it also takes some dedication to a goal with lots of pain involved in getting there. C-R

2cat, have a greyt time soaking up sun. I've got to look that up--weaver's bottom sounds like Hans Christian Anderson had a hand in the diagnosing. nono--love that about 4/15 being your day with your dad. Nice. Seals? Where were you running, SR, and don't say the post office. (I'm not a pun lover) Perch, my legs aren't so good either but I figured we can run 13:30 minute miles and still make the cut-off, if you're interested....... D. is running the 5K Sunday in Boston if anyone is going to be around--I'm meeting a friend at the corner of Boylston and Exeter (not the BPL side) just after all the runners get across the start line. YAY! for Mrs. Ribs. That's an accomplishment. D. ran his first 14 miler earlier this year and we were really thrilled. Somehow, it's a big number, psychologically--maybe just b/c you remember how tired you are at the end of a half, and thinking about even one more mile is huge. Gym day for me--Holly keeps me honest when I want to bag that stuff. Thanks for your perseverance and for sharing it here, my friend. grins, A

I sort of thought so, but didn't want to assume, 'cause you know what that does . . . Big grin A most excellent runner AND an extremely talented musician. Is there no end to your fine abilities??

Oh dear. I'm all about the puns and wordplay... and I had just pulled together a great Easter Seals reference. This morning I was running along the water where I used to live. Looks like they are about to turn my quiet end of the bay into a new cruise ship terminal. Great. No seals. As for the post office, I did indeed do my afternoon post office run and stretched that slow 4.4 miler into an even slower 5.8 miles. That makes just shy of 18 miles today. That's a good Wed-ness-day. (there's no pun to be found there; I'm just mispronouncing Wednesday)

FINALLY, Ellie's scheduled to come home: this Friday morning, 3 weeks after the accident. Though the docs are predicting several months of outpatient therapy, her progress so far has been pretty amazing. To celebrate, I ran a pretty hilly 12.1 miler at 8:48 m/m.....anybody know a good 5-week marathon training plan to whip me into shape for the Vermont City Marathon on Memorial Day weekend? Walt
