I'm up!

I saw on FB that Peter and I started our long runs today at 6:09 am exactly!

65-77F and sunny but lots of shade in the hilly woods. 17 miles in 2:29:32 (8:48 pace).  Ran faster and shirtlless which helped evaporative cooling so sweated 33% less than last weeks 17 miler which was run at 10 min pace!  Very enjoyable run. Envisioned running like Ryan Hall (but in slow motion) with short arm swings and relaxed.  Best run in a long time.  Heat is mental!

Hi  Steve!
Hi Perch!

No run for me this a.m, but did get a good run in yesterday. I think today will be a rest day for me.

drinking my coffee on a cloudy cool a.m., in Seattle. Even though that's IRC, I am glad we had the clear skies yesterday. made for better sightseeing along the course in Seattle.  Heading back home today, after a stop at Pike Place Market. Should be back home this evening. Not too sore today, so that's good.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Hi Steves.

9.31 miles at 10:52 slooow pace.  71°, which seems warm.

That makes 25.2 for the week, my biggest week since May 17th when I started having problems with my leg.  It appears that I'm on the mend, and can begin to plot my fall training plan.

Sounds like there was LOTs of fun in Seattle.

Tammy, congrats on yesterday.  Now go for a walk this morning before you get in that car to drive home!

The Saint and I ran a fiveK this morning, very small, low key race, just to help the RD who is a friend.  About 120 runners or so.  I didn't work hard at it, came to a dead stop at 2.2 miles and waited at the water table for a friend and ran her in.  I did the final tenth in 36 seconds however, just to do some work, 27:04 was my not very impressive time.  Poor Saint, her hip is hurting and she had to walk part of it.  She is still sore from last week's 15-miler.   Spareribs

Good Morning!

In spite of a late-ish night, I'm still on Eastern Standard Time, so I was up at 4am Seattle time, drinking coffee and reading.  Went for a short and gentle 2.5 mile recovery run while the household slept.

This has been an amazing experience, with just the most top-notch people - the warmth and friendship of old friends, even those meeting for the first time.  What a wonderful meet-up this has been!  My heart is all thumpy....

This was the best Christmas present my DH ever gave me...

Sad to see it come to an end, but I'll be happy to hug my family tonight.

See, this is why I wish I could run a marathon. The friendships and support are the best thing about marathons - the running is like icing on the cake. All the Seattle people are so lucky to have had this experience - it sounds like you all ran a great race, had a great time, and we all know - what happens in Seattle, stays in Seattle.

As for me, 7.5 miles this morning, 10:01 pace in pretty darn nice running conditions for a change - 64° with low humidity and a nice cool breeze.

Everyone have a safe trip home!

Congrats to the Seattle racers...

Up at 5:15am this morning to prepare for the 75 mile ride to a 10k race NE of Cleveland called "run for the hills".

Yes there in fact were hills one of them huge.  Not easy to find hills in the Cleveland area but this was run thru a very nice park that has a river with gorge and a creek running through it.  Smaller race put on by the local running club with about 180 runners.  Rained the whole way there but stopped on our arrival in the parking lot.  65 F cloudy and breezy overall very good conditions for June 28th.

Hopeful of 50:00 finish but expected about 51:00.  Actual finish 50:55, no chips so 50:47 by my watch.  Good for AG 3rd, I didn't expect that.  DW goal of 56:00 came in at 55:08 actual probably about 54:59, surprisingly not good for an AG award.  Not bad considering this was our speed work.

Nice break from the marathon training Sunday long run.

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.

It has indeed been a wonderful weekend! Everyone else has headed for home or the airport, DH and I are doing final clean up and packing... can't find my new compression socks I bought at the Expo for the plane ride home.  Oh well... lots of good memories from this event. And we all agreed having a group rent a  house like this is ideal! The only drawback I'm finding is my back is really sore from (I think) the bed we had. Will be very nice to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Big extra hugs and congratulations for our three new marathoners this weekend! Tammy, who ran with Aamos, finished with a big smile, and TimBo ran the whole race with Tammy's friend Laura and it worked out great for both of them. We had 7 marathoners in our group, 3 first timers, and no injuries post race. That's what I call a good event!

A nice easy 3.2 mile recovery run for me this morning - just under 10 minute/mile pace.  Stll smiling about the successful Seattle day.

Everyone have a good day.

Initial Seattle reports make it sound like a fantastic weekend and experience for all involved.  I'm really anxious to get the more detailed reports.  There have been some other great races: wildchild with half pr, ribs and Saint (sorry to hear about the hip) with a nice 5K, and Sarge (AG award) and his wife in their 10K.  henrun, I'm glad to hear your doctor says all is well.  wildchild, I'd sure be nervous if I saw a bear in my driveway.

Nice long runs for buehrle, fatozzig (trails), and perch.

This morning, it was in the high 60s and humid.  I did 4.8 miles in a little over 46minutes for a 9:39 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

Keep those Seattle reports (and photos please!!!) coming. It's great to read about all the running and even better, the friendships---new and old. You all supported each other so much and while that's not surprising, it's great to hear no less.

Welcome back PDR and I'll be hoping that all is well. Nice run-- organic air-conditioned Perch!

16 miles for me today including a 10 mile race in Montpelier, VT in 1:16:24---1st in the 40-49 age group and 5 or 6th overall woman. Official results not up yet. I had a blast and the road trip there and back (5 hours total) was even better as I went with a good friend and sometimes running buddy who is working her race times back down. Her oldest son (at 4 years-old) ran out of her house in his PJs, trailing his blankie this morning when I picked her up at 5 am: "Mommy, Mommy....Banjo has to give you a kiss so you can kick to the finish". Banjo is a ratty looking stuffed donkey, but clearly an important totem as my friend shaved 4 minutes off her time from last year for 3rd in the 30-39 age group and a 1:22:45.   I ran this last year in 1:16:01 and since I was in better shape then, I am pretty pleased.

Huge Congratulations to Tammy, Tim, and Tammy's friend Laura for completing their first marathons seemingly no worse for the wear and with fun memories. That's the way it should be.

Yea Seattle folk!

Bumming around with some sort of weird feeling in my foot -- seems like something is out of whack, but not from running of course.   I think it was too many chores with barefeet and toes superflexed...anyway, it isn't likely to have an effect on my run which is going to be in the surf in a little while.

Bayside and I are taking the kids to the beach to dig in the sand, and we'll take turns getting our runs in....ahhhh!  Yes, it is nice to have summer weather finally with us.  Sea breeze has taken over the western winds, so we should have no biting flies!

Nice night to all!
