    For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here's the tally from last week. Let me know if you see any errors.

            OK, at it again this week with a new plan. I really don't know the exact miles yet, so I will leave the days blank and fill them in as I go. Thanks, Holly Smile Mon - 40 Miles cycling...my thighs and quads were still to sore to run Tues - 6.5 easy miles - thighs and quads still sore Weds - 11 miles total - with 6 1/2 mile repeats - 7:10 ave pace...great workout! Thurs- 7 easy miles Friday - Rest (I now think this is not a good idea anymore) Sat - 15 miles total - 4 at M pace, 2 at 1/2 M pace - tough day Confused Sun - 8 miles - great effortless run - 8:28 pace Total - 47.5 - getting back into the groove Smile

            Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

Sun. rest Mon. 17 long done Tues. 7 recovery done Wed 8.5 easy with X training or biking done Thur rest... changed to 8.5 easy done Fri 8.5 tempo...changed to a rest day Sat 10 med long easy....changed to a 24 hr distance challenge..... 15 on Saturday...more on Sunday done Total 51 +/- ....... 56 actual

                  Just getting ready to leave on vacation to South Dakota -- came short of my numbers this week. 61 miles running, 2 miles walking and a 4 mile/10k/half marathon PR all in one race. Will try to post the RR before we leave.

                    Thanks, Holly. M--4 on the treadmill before boredom set in. T--5 before work; dry and cool out. W--8.52, supposed 15k, hilly trail race; 1:04:11, 158/177. 2 m WD TH- F--7.6, 1:07:14, 138/164 S--6 or so miles, 2.95 of which were a short 5k RR, +WU/WD; 174/183 S--8.6, 1:20:03, 130/153 41.6 for the week. I'm taking next week off- I still have some lingering aches (quads, Achilles) from last month's Marathon.

No special plan (as usual) except some nice runs on shady nature park trails Mon - 10 miles "easy HR", State park trails, killer hills Tue - off Wed - 13 miles easy, cool nature park trails, lotsa rabbits, 1 deer ------- 1.5 miles easier, roads/trails Thur - off Fri - 10.5 miles easy, nature park trails, warmer, now snakes are out, too Sat - 11 miles easy old forest road up/down ------- 1.5 miles easier roads/trails Sun - off Total - 47.5 miles
