WEEKLY RUN & X TRAINING GROUP, W/E 04/12/09 (Read 282 times)

OK.....wow, what a week! The party was great.....some nice singing with organic chips and whirlpools. Smile Can't wait to see what's in store for this week! Here's what was going on in our world last week. Dutchie42......24.5K of running, upper body strength training and 78K of biking. Hope the diziness gets better. Eliz4015.....Gettin' all funky and taking some well deserved rest days. Thanks for singing....it was beautiful! House....gotta love (or maybe hate) the guy! I really like that show. Taking in some baseball and getting to see the nephew take the field. Smile Still found time for 10.4 miles of running and 2.0 miles of walking. Enjoy spring break! dg.....gets my corny comments about unchartered territory! Thanks for the chips and letting us eat them in your gyms whirpool. 22.3 miles of running, 16+ minutes of biking, 16+ minutes of elliptical, 2 hrs and 55 minutes of strength training, 40-50 minutes of something Big grin and still walking in uncharted territory. evanflein.....46.9 miles of running including a 21.2 long run....nicely done. 1 hr 45 minutes of pool running, 1.51 miles walking. Erika is beginning the taper for the Boston Marathon....good luck! I've been watching the saga of your last long run. I believe it was put off for a week and you were undecided about doing it in what was supposed to be your first week of taper....Is that right? I'm in a similar situation. Let me know if that affects your taper and race in anyway. pfriese.....52.2 miles of running including a 20.2 mile long run. Pretty windy on Sunday wasn't it Paul? Nice week after some down time a few weeks back. nowor.....16.5 miles w/stuff. Yoga, strength training and core/ball workouts. nowor, whenever I see your screen name, I think "no worries." Is that what you had in mind? Glad the crud is leaving you. fatozzig.....we miss you....please come home! Smile evryday.....44 miles of windy running. I'm beginning my taper mode as well. It has come at just the right time. Smile Enjoy the rest of the week, my friends.

Ah, the first week day of spring break and it's been POURING since about 7 a.m. Still grateful for the break, though. Monday - watched it rain; cleaned; trekked through the rain; watched it rain some more Tuesday - ran 5.0 and walked 1.0 on crazy wind on the boardwalk this afternoon; did some intervals, which felt good Wednesday - strength training - 1 hour Thursday - schlepped, er, ran 3.1 and walked 1.0; worn out from last night's strength training; allergies flaring up a little, too; still good to get out there Smile Friday - most excellent run on the boardwalk this morning - 5.6 miles running, 1 mile walking - confirms my belief that I really do need to win the lottery so I can quit my job and become a beach bum here in NJ Cool Saturday - worn out from yesterday's 3-hour service and last night's trek to Philly for a hockey game; napping this afternoon; maybe some yoga tonight Sunday - ran 3.3 and walked 1.0 on the boardwalk after church this afternoon; a little windy, but blazing sunshine and lots of little Easter Egg hunters made it fun Greta week. 17 miles even running (best week so far in 2009) and walked 4.0. Ahhh, time to taper! Might see me in the pool more this week. Evryday I've done the 2-week taper thing before, but that was when I was running several consecutive marathons. And I did an abbreviated training/short taper for Disney and would've had an awesome race if I hadn't forgotten my chip. So, we'll see how this one goes! Monday: 30 minutes pool running, "easy" pace/effort Tuesday: 5 miles, 8:29 avg pace (too fast for easy, which is what I was supposed to do); .25 mile walk c/d Wednesday: 7.3 miles tempo pace (avg 8:07), .25 mile walk Thursday: 5.1 miles, 8:29 avg pace Friday: 40 minutes pool running Saturday: 8.6 miles, tempo run 7:49 avg pace (trying out new shoes) Sunday: 11.1 miles, 8:16 avg pace, .25 mile walk c/d Totals: 37.1 miles run, 1 hr 10 min pool running, walking and new shoes! Smile

Run the day, or the day runs you.

Hi Folks - I'm back! Looks like you all kept percolating right along without me, but I missed the party! Darn, 'cause I have a really easy peasy dip recipe that I would've shared with ya'll. I kept up with my running schedule while gone, including a 20k on Sunday with the Sydney Striders. Great fun, although my escort just about ran me into the ground. The last time I ran that long on pavement/cement was in 2007. And I remembered all the reasons I'd rather do those distances (or any distance for that matter) on trails. All my running while gone was on pavement/cement Yuck! Haven't run since Sunday as we flew home Monday, Tuesday was a traveling recovery day, and I've been up since 1:00 a.m. and only got about 3.5 hours of sleep last night. Doggone Aussie time (17 hours ahead). Hopefully I sleep like a champ tonight , 'cause tomorrow it's back on the merry-go-round. Mon - Traveling Tues - Recovering Traveling Wed - Recovering from Traveling/Time Difference Thurs - 5.25 hilly miles, 10:18 av pace Fri - Sat - 11.70-mile trail run, 13:52 ap Sun - Nothing - AT problems Sad Total Miles: 16.95

Yay! Leslie's back! Big grin Sounds like a fun trip except for all the hard pounding your feet took. Hope we get to hear all about it! (Evryday's been a real task master since you've been gone! Surprised )
Yes, fatozzig, welcome home. Task master? Surprised When the cat's away the mice play. That's my motto! Big grin I did my best to keep the ship afloat in your absence. I'm pleased to hand the thread back over to you once you've rested up. task master....well I never....... Big grin

Evryday, thanks for filling in and running the thread. Yup last Sunday was windy, but nothing compared to last Thursdays 50 mph winds with wildfires. I had to cut my run short that day. wow, evryday, great party!! I mean.... boy were you tough on us. Shocked Leslie, welcome back! You can save us! Dutchie, I'm glad you're doing a little better.... what did your PT say? more happy taper wishes to Erika... sorry to be mia again this week. there was some action but less than usual. This one really was a cutback week, not like those cheap imitations I did before. 18.4 miles running, free form walking through the corn fields, 3 hrs. 20 min. strength training, (attempted to get better at my pt exercises... if anybody has a chronic S/I problem I'll tell you some of what they have me doing) and just 38 min. & 24 seconds on the elliptical. the end.

Taper well Everyday Nowor came from "now or never" when I started running at age 60. Sometime later I realized that I liked it but would never be speedy so I guess "no worries" is what it stands for now.
