Sunday 21 Feb - Master's thread (Read 376 times)

Is it possible that I'm back from church and no one has started a Sunday thread yet?

Nice long runs for Sue (on TM), kimmie (on major hills and with fast finish), Tammy (including 5 mile race), and mariposai.

This morning it was in the high 30s, a bit windy, and overcast.  I got in 5 miles in about 51 minutes for a 10:12 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

      Good Afternoon Tom,

      Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.

Hi there---long runs and time change....

21.3 miles for me at 7:30 am with Dr. J and Dr. B---the winds were howling last night so I was a bit worried, but it wasn't too bad this morning---windy and raining, but not  the soaking and howling we might have confronted---just a few big gusts now and then. Lots of trees down though. 8:52 pace and steady on a super hilly course. All good.

I was on the road all week (CA) and feel that a nap will be quite necessary later!

        Happy Sunday all

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." — Martin Luther King Jr.

          I'll need a nap, too!

20.3, not quite as fast as CNYRunner, 9:10/mi pace.

          Good runs, all!

Very nice runs CNY and WRFB !

I just wrapped up 17.55 @ 8:37........20 was certainly doable today......despite the wind....geesh.  My only goal was to run longer than 2 hrs today and I clocked 2hrs 31mins feeling good.

I'm feeling pretty strong......I hope I can ride this wave for awhile and turn it into a new PR or two.

Time to fire up the charcol.......roasting chickens today. Shoud sneak in a nap too

Tetjusiin - Hey, Econo's old stomping grounds!
You heading back to Japan? What happened to everyone at today's race?

I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit before meeting a friend for 14-15 miles. He had 20 planned, my schedule said 12... we're compromising somewhere in the  middle. If I do 14 at a good pace, I'll be happy. We've got about an inch of new snow that's been mashed up by snowmachines, walkers, dogs and bikes so the footing won't be great. We'll probably run in the road for most of our time.

That's good to hear, Slo. I hope it works for you!

Nice really long runs for CNYrunner and WRFB this morning! Lou, how's the leg?

Couldn't get in a long run like some of you folks. Managed 8.5, progressing the last 3 miles from 7:51 to 6:43.

                    Good to see Tet running.

Jon, too far to go for a 5K....plus I don't think there is much speed in my legs these days!!

I was out running 7 miles though in the early morning , frosty , cold in the valley but the sun was coming out so I didn't regret the really early get up time, hour change and all!!

I'm at work now but might go run up the big Tolt Pipeline hill after work...will see!

                      Happy Sunday to all

                      Francesca

                        Lou, how's the leg?

I'm afraid to say it's ok.  Let's leave it at that.  Smile

Seriously, I'll test it more next week, as I haven't really been running fast on it for the last few -- I've been building back my endurance instead.

I'm up from my nap now.

Tet - you're making me miss UW!

16 miles this morning in something of a progression. Started slow, drove it down to 7 miles at MP, then 1 mile slow(er) to finish 'er up.  It's wet out there, with lots of flooding in the area.  If this was more snow, we'd be buried.

Overall 9:38/mi.   Mile 13 was 8:44. Yay me!

Poor dawndaughter2 has a lot of swelling and pain from her wisdom teeth extraction adventure on Friday.  She'll stay with us for at least another day.  She had hoped to go back to work tomorrow, but that's not going to happen.

Great running PDR!!   And 8:44 mile is awesome.  I very rarely remember to run progression runs.  Hope your daughter feels better soon.

I had hoped for 8 miles but ended up with only 3 recovery, very easy.  It was purely a time issue... kids are still little, Dh out of town, must fit in what I can, when I can... but happy with the weekly mileage overall.

Erika, hope your run went well.

CNY- sounds like you're on the east coast, too.... I'm somewhat over all of this rain.

                            Great run!

I'm kinda jealous of all the people who are taking naps around here... I don't take the time to do that.  I just hit the ground running when I come back from a long run.  Yesterday, I had 15 minutes to get to a Girl Scout leader meeting... and then kids' activities all day.  So, I WANTED to crash a bit and recover, but it just doesn't end up happening sometimes.

Here's to a sunny, warm, great running week!!  Smile

                            Marathon Maniac #957

Wow, there was some excellent running yesterday, and then today, wow again – you guys rock!

Tet – great racing, but sorry you didn’t find everyone.

Kimmie - sometimes just a 15-minute catnap can do wonders.

20+ miles for me today in 37-39° and light rain, with miles 12, 13, 14, and 15 @ (9:03, 8:55, 8:52, 8:45), the rest of it pretty darn slow, though, and then twice slowly chugging up my long hill at miles 16 and 19.

I’m a little iffy on the distance because, at mile #10, I stopped to use the bathroom at a McDonald’s, and my Garmin asked me the question, “Are you indoors?” to which I foolishly answered, “Yes.”  Dumb, dumb, because when I got outside and began running again, the Garmin was no longer measuring distance.  I must have run a half-mile or so before I noticed.  I fiddled and fiddled with it, but could not figure out how to switch it back to outdoor running.  Finally I turned it off and restarted it.  So there was an extra half-mile or thereabouts that was unrecorded.

My achiness in the hip/butt/thigh was present, but never seemed to get any worse, so hopefully it will just go away on it’s own.  (whew!)

My new Sugoi tights felt great!  But alas, my butt was still cold……

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Wow, nice long runs for Karin, Lou, PDR, Holly, and SloHand so far.  Erika, I hope your long run goes well too.

Cold and snowing here today.  But it's supposed to be in the 50's and sunny in town all week.  I may take the dogs for a walk in the snow, but my ankle's a little tender. No swelling, at least, so I think I'll be able to run in a couple of days.

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.
