Marathon Maniac #957
For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... quarry
Here’s what I have for last week’s tally
23:58 in a 4-mile race is fast!
Still running in spite of the busy new job
Another Dam 50K
AT and calf issue
Here’s my tentative plan for the week.
Weights and core
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
That sucks, Opie. Be smart and give yourself time to recover. You're in it for the long haul.
@ 8:42; nice cool day
10 w/3 tempo
3 @ ~7:15
dead legs @ 8:51
3.5 warm-up, 5K (21:12), 3.8 recovery
Very sorry to say it, but I will have to take a break from this thread for a while. Saw the running doc this morning and he thinks I have a stress fracture in the right fibula. I'll be on the bike mostly. I'm a lot less anxious than before the appointment because I was afraid it was a recurrence of sciatica. However, I have to admit that I'm disappointed to let the Swamp pace bunny pass me!
"Pain only hurts" -Scott Jurek
That really stinks, Opie. Heal up quick and get back in here!
Oh...hi, Holly--thanks. Here's the plan for the week.
47:28 + squats, crunches, and stretches
1:19:48 + squats, crunches, and stretches
24 minutes of weights + squats, crunches, and stretches
1:20:56 + squats, crunches, and stretches
30 minutes of weights + squats, crunches, and stretches
1:12:49 + squats, crunches, and stretches
2:46:31 + squats, crunches, and stretches
Hi Holly. I just may make 40 again this week!

Darn it Opie. Hope that heals quickly for you...
I'm happy to report that I had my first 40 mile week since Jan 6, 2013.

Sorry, Opie. We know you'll be back when you can.
Thanks to a 30-mile weekend, I got in 43 miles this week. I was travelling and hiking in AZ, so I got in only 4 days of running. Only one more 20-miler before my trail marathon in mid-July.
