      Hey Hey Hey!

      Enke...great photo. Thanks for sharing!

I've got a little catching up to do.

      Yesterday I took a vacation day. Gorgeous wheather...rode 125 miles...give or take.

Last night was our first Trail Building day. It's been almost 3 years in the making to get to this point. It now all hinges on my ability to harvest volunteers.

      Mariposai

Blazing Cajun, thanks for your nice compliment! Enjoy your run tonight.

Enkie, tell us more about Mr. C.

Star, your picture the other day was great. You lookk good sistahh.

Erika, when is Equinox? Did I miss it?

I am looking forward to the next RA family meet up in VT. Who all are going?

Ok, 5 miles this morning with a gorgeous sun rise to enjoy. I am looking forward to today's work day.

Enjoy the early fall cooler weather.

My bike Carmen and I have a date tonight. We have a biking race coming up this Saturday .

Very kind of you, as always Blazin'.  Thank you.

The Saint goes to work early on Wednesdays in her part-time job at the yarn shop, so I run solo and have my iPod, always joyous to run once a week with some music, and today was a good day.  Six miles easy, at about ten minute pace.

On FB this morning I posted:  "Going to Jared" definitely does NOT mean buying your wife a Subway foot long sandwich for her birthday.  Lesson learned.

People actually believe my jokes are true, and I'm sure I'll get some interesting responses.  I crack myself up!  (The Saint's birthday is sometime in May.)

Cab will be here in an hour and off I go to Tampa, FL for a couple of days.  Off day from running tomorrow, then light workout Friday morning, then big race Saturday.  Spareribs

            Good Afternoon!

So I'm trying an experiment.  What do y'all think of chia seeds?  I had a "chia pod," which is just chia seeds, some fruit and coconut milk at noon or so.  I tend to be really starving for lunch and since my job is sedentary (not to mention, overly AC'ed), I think I eat too much at lunch.  I thought I'd try breaking it up into 2 smaller snacky-meals and also try chia seeds, as they are supposed to make you feel full for a while.  Anyone have any opinions on the little buggers?

Thanks for the summary, Blazin; superb job.

Good luck on that project, Slo---really hoping it is successful.

And thanks for the photo enke.....very nice!  Hope it's one of lots more, and more hikes, good times, etc.

            Tammy, take care, take care....

            Ribs, what race???

FSU Quarterback is not charming us of late.  And some of my Viking fan friends in South Dakota are going over to the Broncos.

I'm going to THunder Bay in a few days, where it is cold, cold cold cold!  Running there Sunday, and the HIGH is 60.

It will be interesting.  When I was in Duluth, I got an invite to run this race and almost declined, as I'd already scheduled the trip to DC (which was just this past weekend) to visit my college roomie, but the invite to TB included DH.  I put it to him and he opted for the trip, so here we are (or, "there we go," I guess I should say.)

6.5 miles last night with Speedsters, 2 warmup and cooldown with the middle 4 back and forth on the bridge.  6.2 this morning at just below a 9 minute mile pace.  It is SO dark out right now, don't know if I'll run tonight or not.   We may be rained out, something that doesn't happen too often.

And we're over the hump here on the east coast, as we all soon will be and heading for the wonderful weekend!

            grins,

            A

ps: hope you get up to VT, marj and henrun!

              Hey All.

I know about chia pets. They grow fast. Nothing on the seeds. I am drinking more water seems to keep me full.

Another 7 at lunch. A little slower but feels comfortable. Patrick finished 5th yesterday and is only 3 seconds behind the #3 kid on his team. He's been steadily gaining on him. Their team (both girls and boys) crushed it. Very happy for them and they are a good group with a fun spirit.

If I lived closer I would give you a hand Slo.

Cigar City Ribs. Feel free to mail me some if you think of it.

              Well back at it.

              Cheers.

MTA - forgot to add. I made hotel reservations for Boston. Place called the Midtown Hotel which is right off the T and close to the action. Good reviews and AAA rate was $125/night.

                Good job Blazin’
I’ll make it easy for you on the daily as I don’t plan on any more running this month.
too tired from the Tunnel Lite Marathon.
Otherwise, maybe I’d go for a 4-6 hour run up Cougar, Tiger

or some mountain just for the heck of it like the old days too.
After doing a lot of walking this time, I’ll have a lot of questions for Jay though

when he gets done with their enviably extended anniversary celebration.
                .

                Good Job Enke!
See you (and maybe someone else?) at the Fishes 5K on 10/5?

I'm a little behind as I babysat Monday and Tuesday rather than just Tuesday.  steve, nice color run with Noah and Tag.  I like the newspaper article.  It sounds like a fantastic time for the relay team.  I've read the comments and looked at the pictures here and on mari's separate post.  Mike, sorry to hear about your dad's broken hip.  It does sound like some progress.  ribs, nice 5K for charity.  C-R, neat that you made your 5K a family affair.  starr, glad you had fun at your class reunion and did well in the 10K.  tet, good job on another marathon and being able to see pfriese.  Mike, what a bummer about your son's dog.  enke, I'm glad you had a good weekend with MrC.  Tammy, I'm sorry to hear the fires are so close.  Be safe.  Aamos, nice racing.

Nice long runs for Mike, wild, PBJ, and Dave.

This morning, it was in the low 40s and there was just a light breeze.  I did 5 miles at an 11:19 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

                    Marathon Iowa 2014

Hey Tom - thanks for the mention, but my last long run was anything but nice.

Saw the Physician's Assistant this morning.  She thought the bursa sacs were filled.  So Doc Bentley came in, stuck a needle in my hip to drain 'em, and nothing came out.  It's the tissue that is swollen, and a blood vessel had burst.  Apparently the tendon over the hip was rubbing me the wrong way (or something like that).  Off to physical therapy on Friday, with the assurance that I can still run, but it will be painful. So the AC marathon is still within the realm of possibilities.

On a side note, I've been using perform menthol gel (from the makers of biofreeze) on the swelling, and it feels much better than Sunday.

                      Henrun

Still in PT with moderate improvement of my Achilles. Continue to "run" excruciatingly slowly but, at least, I'm doing it- good for my head. Close to 3 in a warm (70), sunny afternoon. We're off to Portland, Maine on Friday for a weekend of cycling with a senior group.

C-R- good deal and a great location. Many good restaurants nearby, especially one of our favorites- 5 Napkin Burgers.

                          Good Afternoon!

So I'm trying an experiment.  What do y'all think of chia seeds?

CHIA - I used to work there  center for health information & analysis - no seeds, but we did get a cup with a 'chia pet' on it

PBJ - well, that sounds promising!

Henrun - slow is better than zero!

I slept in....again....still catching up on sleep.

Holly, thanks for posting the photo of Mr. C.  I swear, I try the right click and copy and past the URL, and it just doesn't work for me.  But then again, I am pretty computer flakey at the best of times.

Don't want to say too much about him, who knows, this could all end spectacularly at any time.  He was 35 when he ran a 3:45 marathon, on a brief training program with only one 20 miler (he is indestructible!)  Of course I tried to verify his time, but detailed Portland marathon results don't go back that far.  Has a history degree (so we are complete opposites that way).  Seems to be an information sponge, reads a lot and has a broader and deeper knowledge than I do - smart guy for sure.  Works in IT.  He is 5 1/4 years older than me, very little grey hair!  Has a 32 year old daughter and 16 year old son (yes, from different women).  Bikes 11 miles to work and back most days, so very fit that way.  Did Ramrod this year (150 mile ride around Mt. Rainier in one day).  Hikes a lot.  Is very left of centre, which works well with my more socialist Canadian upbringing.

He hasn't run in 8 years but I bet he could hop into that 5K with me and Tet at "Run with the Fishes", and beat me.  I hate him.

"During a marathon, I run about two-thirds of the time. That's plenty." - Margaret Davis, 85 Ed Whitlock regarding his 2:54:48 marathon at age 73, "That was a good day. It was never a struggle."

I'm going to THunder Bay in a few days, where it is cold, cold cold cold!  Running there Sunday, and the HIGH is 60.

Sounds like perfect running weather!  I have never been up that far - can you take pictures?
