Nancy, you crazy grrl. I'm off work today (Friday) for our "Spring Break" but it's a non-running day for me. So I might head to the gym later for a workout and maybe a pool run, but I have a huge list of things to do around the house that I'm eager to get to. Have a great Friday everyone!!

Oh look!  The daily is started already.  (I would post more often if it was here when I finished up my run - I miss Roy!)

6.06 miles, 9:43 pace.  Warm (51°), windy, rainy.  Piles of snow are almost, but not quite, gone.  Fortunately it was dark enough that I couldn't see all the worms underfoot.  Eeww.

I'm taking dawndaughter2 to the oral surgeon this morning to get all her wisdom teeth yanked.  I'll go into work later after I get her settled onto the couch with ice packs, pain meds and the remote.

Good morning!  Funny, I was thinking about Roy while running this morning, and wondering what's up with him.

Wow what a start today!   Beer and a donut for breakfast ..... I can probably handle that!

And a PDR posting too - the beerbaby picture is adorable!!

Rest day for me.   Last night I did 30 minutes on the stability ball, 10 minutes each upper body, lower body and abs.   Then I got a wild hair and did 20 minutes of the Jillian Shred.    I was sweatin' like a piggy.   I think I swore at the TV a few times too.

Hi all, I go back to work on Monday, yuk. I did 3.5 total yesterday, some in morning and some at night, I am sore today unsure if I will run today or not.  I have to install a toilet today at #1 son's house so we will see how I feel and what the weather is doing when I get done there.  Have a nice day and good runs today and do not eat to many dougnuts,  think I will skip the doughnuts myself my waist line looks like a doughnut already.

                    Morning, gang!

Mari - wow, what a great start for this wonderful Friday morning!  The Beers have checked in, and Perch has reported a mighty nice progression run.

dg - I hadn't ever considered the possibility of raw oatmeal - just dry oatmeal straight out of the box??   I've heard of mixing it with milk or water and fruit/nuts/etc and letting it site over night in the fridge, but even that doesn't sound terribly palatable to me.

The only cooked cereal I ate as a child was cream of wheat.  I hated the coarse texture of oatmeal.  I don't know why I developed a taste for it a few years ago.  I prefer the steel cut variety, but I'm usually too impatient and settle for the old fashioned rolled oats which cook much faster.

67 minutes on the elliptical this morning.  I may or may not be able to get away for a weight-lifting lunch - we'll see.

Good runs and a good weekend to all!

I have really tried to like oatmeal, but this is the only version that I like:

Mary, I'm with you!  That's the only way I like oatmeal, too.

Sue, you take ellipticalling to a new level.  (is that a word?)  And you always do a seemingly random number of minutes - or did you set out to do 67 minutes today?  I always seem to be OCD and stop at an even 5 or 10 minute multiple.  How's the foot?

Mari, what's that guy doing in the doughnut?

Deb, did you have your surgery this week?  Not sure if I missed it, or if it's next week?

I went for a nice 4 mile trail run on the way home last night in a pretty state park.  The trails weren't too muddy except in the last mile, and it was almost 50°!   Quite a difference from the morning commute to work, at 13° and with 6" of new snow.  Hard to believe it was still the same day.

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

                        Resting? get a hug!!!

4 easy miles in the rain. Today would have been a perfect day to run a 20 miler.

Ohhh the fresh smell of the earth after a soft rain!!!!

Happy is the day we have a visit from the beers!!!!

Mary- I agree with you about oatmeal!   I only like the cookies.

Ok, so I went to the gym to run on the mill since it's raining and I wussed out.  My friend convinced me to do this class that was supposed to be weights, I thought.  Turns out to be a step class (which I haven't done in forever)  I am sweating, surprisingly.

Then the school called to ask me if I could sub (substitute teaching, one of my many jobs)  so, there may be no time for a run.   wondering if an hour of step= 5 miles of running.

                            Head in the Clouds

Re-aggravated the anterior tibialis tendinitis. Can't run. Tried last night and lasted 50 yards. Had a coughing fit at bedtime too that only subsided with Nyquil. Not attempting any running this weekend. Aren't I a ray of sunshine on a Friday? .  This means I have 1 long run left on the schedule (if I can even run it) before the 21 miler on 3/27. Really don't know what to do. Sorry to be a such a piece of poop.

                                Good Morning!

2.1 very slow miles on dead legs today, followed by light x-training:  lateral raises, shoulder presses, dumbbell curls, reverse flies, superman lifts, stability ball crunches, and 71 push-ups (25+25+21).

I am slightly alarmed by some pain I am having in the back of my right thigh/lower butt.  Still minor, but this is reminiscent of the tendon injury I had the summer before last – not in exactly the same spot but close.  It was sore yesterday, but I attributed it to DOMS from the lunges, squats, and step-ups I had done on Tuesday.  The fact that it is still there today is what I find alarming, especially with a 20-miler on the schedule for tomorrow.  It would probably be best if I moved the 20-miler to Sunday, to give it another day to settle down, but I promised my DH we wouldn’t miss church again because of my running.  (sigh) Icing now.

Tonight I get to work on chiseling up the ugly white tile I have in the kitchen now.  Good riddance!  DD has turned out to be a great help so far with this project, carefully taking up all the staples on the stairs with a pair of pliers when DH tore the carpet up (did I say we're also putting hardwood on the stairs and landing?).  I think she will be equally handy with a chisel.  We'll be lucky if we can pull DS away from the X-Box to help. though.

Our friend Scott offered, for my birthday present, to come over tomorrow and cook DH and I a fancy 4-course meal and then take our kids and his out for a while.  Is that an awesome birthday present or what?  I told him he could do that on one condition: that he sit and enjoy it with us and we all watch a family movie afterward.  He’s going though a very messy divorce right now, and I think he and his boys could use a fun and relaxing evening.

After he gets done with the dishes, of course.

                                Happy Friday!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
