I thought Jim has a 5K and Leslie a 50K???? I thought they were this weekend, but I could be wrong.

My Uterus Will Fall Out?
I believe the racers are Ev and Jim, unless someone else decides to sneak one in there. I'm next weekend, Saturday, up in Ashland. Joe is just causing people to think he belongs in the funny farm for running in pouring down rain.

I thought it was just because he's 50! Oh, wait, isn't 50 the new 30? I'm not one to be talking, I"ll be 50 30 in a couple months.
These 3 old sisters who lived together were well into there 80s. They were getting a bit forgetful in their years. One day one of the sisters, Gladis, was getting into the bathtub. She got half way in when she stopped and said, "Oh my, and I'm getting into the bath or getting out of the bath?"
About that time, Ruby her older sister was going up the stairs. Halfway up she stops and says out loud, "Oh my, am I going up the stairs or coming down?"
Younger sister Doris, exclaims, as she raps her knuckles on a wooden table, "Good lord, I hope I never get that senile, knock on wood....Oh my, I'd better go see who that is. Was that the front door or the back?"

1.4 with .3 fast, race prep complete. Feeling fat and slothful but I think its just a feeling cause of reduced mileage.
Hometown 5k tommorow. They have a 10 k but its pretty thin so I do the 5k, Still to pull in 200 people in this town of 1000 ( many from out of town) is pretty good. The little 20 something gal that owns the fitness center and her family and other volunteers do a great job putting it on. We usually donate to the cause.
Did the neighbors corn fields yesterday. The hail bullseye was not completely on my back because he won't harvest any wheat from that farm. Corn that should have been waist high is not even knee high with some plants dead and others stunted. Waist high corn will canopy and shade the row middles so weeds will not do very well in the shade. With the hail that canopy is lost so you have all this sunlight and all this moisture for the weeds to come on. Anyway after looking at 200 acres of that junk I was about half depressed and it weren't even mine. Going to try and take it easy today. I want to finish up the tarp on the cart but we don't want to hurt ourselves, then start spraying on my hailed junk, just have 1 field ready now to spray. We are usually cutting wheat on the 4th but with the cool and wet think we are probably a week away on whats left of harvest.
Ev great story, Oh my, I think I am there now!
The whole world said I shoulda used red but it looked good to Charlene in John Deere Green!!

Run for fun? What the hell kind of recreation is that? quote from Back to the Fut III
Ev -
Rest day for me from working out and work. Jim, I hear ya on feeling fat and slothful, etc., because of the lower mileage. It's the one thing I really hate about tapering - that and having to taper my food intake.
So if the 50s are the new 30s, does that mean I'm only 23???? Heck, I wouldn't go back to that age for nothing. Well, maybe for the no crows feet, but nothing else. At 43, I'm happier, healthier, and stronger - both mentally and physically. I like me at 43.
Ev and Jim - happy racing! Sounds like both events are going to be great fun!
Leslie - so sorry to hear about BK, but you were awfully good to the old fella...good thing you have the rest of the gang to keep you busy.
Jewels - congrats on the new job, good to hear that it's going well so far.
Joe - running in the pouring rain sounds wonderful and much better than heat...last time I was at Gettysburg it was hot hot hot. I walked across the field where Confederate Soldier's made that deadly Pickett's Charge, trying to imagine what it was like to advance on foot for a mile across that field on a blazing hot day, with heavy artillery fire raining down...just awful...
Carol - nice going with the biking there. I keep wimping out on riding my bike - letting the heat be a convenient excuse.
Things are approaching normal around here, well with mom anyway. I made a close-to-final trip to LA to clean her home and give the realtor the green light to list the place. There's still some furniture and stuff that I need to sell (like the old - and very cool - Wedgewood range that my grandpa bought in the 30s or 40s), so I took some photos and will try to get one of those estate auction houses to pick up. Hopefully I can get my own life back on track soon!
Have a great 4th, everyone!!

r2farm Those little town races are what I do most of. Love them. They all have their own little twist, and the people are great. I will do a 2.6 mile 4th of July race tomorrow from Monmouth, OR. to Independence, OR. It will start at 11:30 AM on their parade route, and directly before the parade. I am told that the streets will be lined with the parade watchers, and that they cheer a lot. Should be lots of fun, but also very hot.
Happy July 4th, everyone! Woods Lady
Oh, since I am 70, does that make me , hum, maybe 55? What about my race AG? Do I lose my hardware?
Yep, 70 is the new 50! The AG hardware is your's to keep, however!
Hello to everyone,
Worked 9-12 at my morning job and then headed to the gym. The office was closed today at my new job. Got in a nice leg workout along with my own Firecracker 5k. Ran 2.5 and then walked the remaining .6
Happy early 4th!
Yes, you're only 55. And they'd have to pry my hardware from my cold, dead hands . . . if I had hardware.
Firecracker 5K....25/93 total.....3rd in AG (40-49)....24:08
Light rain at the start, then it stopped and was perfect for the remainder of the race. Part asphalt part golf course....a very fun course.
Pancakes afterwards.
Ev - nice job! So, didja get some hardware for your AG placement?I would've been happy with the pancakes
I'm in acclimation mode, I think. Having a hard time running in this heat. Going to have to work harder on slowing down.
Got the flag flying out front, looking forward to a family get-together tonight. Hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th.
