Since I'm not running, I have time to start the daily thread.
You may proceed.
I know Tim is in the pictures. But I haven't seen a Race Report from Tim yet. I'm beginning to doubt whether he really ran a Marathon last weekend. I think he just drooled over the Hawt Wimmins and drank beer all day ...
3.2 slow and easy recovery miles in the soup at 9:56 pace. Looking forward to the long weekend. I may try to get in a swim tomorrow.

"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong
Morning, gang!
Tramps - thanks for the kickoff - sorry you are on the DL - wishing you a speedy recovery.
Leslie - your progressive farming program makes me hungry - especially your green bean recipe description. I didn't have room for beans this year, but I hope to have massive numbers of tomatoes. I might even share with DH ;-).
dg - I don't usually do weights and bike in the same session. I didn't get to do anything over my lunch hour yesterday - the torrential rains and lightning kept me office-bound. I felt like a slug.
More of the same torrential rains and lightning left me with no option but the treadmill this morning. Progressive run - first mile at 11:00 pace then pace increases every quarter mile till I reached a 9:00 minute/mile pace. 6 miles with 9:37 average pace and 158 AHR.
I had to let Jesse out in the heavy rain this morning - she wasn't impressed - just stared at me with squinty eyes asking if I really expected her to go out to do her business in the wet muck???
Good runs all!
Turn Here
Mornin guys......and to all who pop in.
Last nights run was supposed to be an easy 5 miler but everything felt so good......I ended up running 5 miles and some change at a 7:32 pace.......It felt wonderfully refreshing !
So many races to choose from this weekend.......I can't get anyone to commit to one.......Many many years ago (like 25) there used to be a 10k Fire Craker run that coincided with the fire works display. It was pretty cool.....I'm not sure what ever happend to it......
Take care all and happy miles !

Good Morning!
Dg – that cookie looked delicious! And as a matter of fact, while I will be baking an official birthday cake for DD on Saturday (our annual family 4th of July party is also a part birthday celebration), and another the next weekend (when she has her "official" party at the pool with several of her friends), last night she said she’d rather have a chocolate chip cookie.
9.05 easy-paced miles for me this morning (ave 10:31) in a lovely 60 degrees. The blister seems to be healing up nicely and no pain to speak of anywhere. Nice.
good morning!
Tramps, thenk you.
Byll it sounds like you got in a swim today!
zippy 5 miler Slo.
Sue I hate that sluggy feeling. don't think you're too sluglike though. do you take rest days? poor Jesse. Sadie gives me the same look. I wonder if they'd like an umbrella.
hmm. I had more in mind one where we didn't have to go wth them. be right back.
Sigh. I think we're going to have to design one ourselves.
Holly, it was seriously tasty. I'm hoping it's not going to be habit forming. That's funny DD would rather have chocolate chip cookies! What kind of cake are you going to make?
Today was an optional cross training + core day, but i'm flipping it with Monday. I also did about 40 min. of core & things last night, so this is an official rest day. Sue, my turn to feel like a slug! I'm going to stay very very busy.
i'm lovin' it... MM#1949
Tim's RR is at the publishers I believe.
Nice EZ 4 miles, 2 with the dogs at 9:30 pace and 2 with strides thrown in at 8:30 pace. The strides felt smooth and powerful. Ran at 8:00 am to simulate Saturday's race conditions. It was 70-77F with lot of sun. Heat is mental... RTYP
What kind of cake are you going to make?
She was quite specific about that: chocolate cake with chocolate icing and M&Ms all over the top.
Good morning!
No running for me yet since the marathon. It's just been so hot here - low 100's and not cooling off much til late in the evening. I'm feeling good though and WANT to run. I have tomorrow off so will get in an early morning run while the air is nice and cool.
Leave for Seattle again in less than two weeks. This time as a family vacation to see the NHRA drag races. DH and DS are huge drag car racing fans. But as luck would have it there's a 5 mile race on Saturday a.m. 18th, that I might go run - since it's right in the little town we'll be staying in.
Thanks for all the comments on my RN (race novel). I know it got entirely too long, so I really appreciate the feedback and comments. It's hard to believe that I was leaving for Seattle a week ago.

My Uterus Will Fall Out?
Mornin' Folks -
Holly - The new president of my legal pros assocation is an excellent baker. We had a picnic a couple of weeks ago and she brought made-from-scratch chocolate cake w/homemade choc icing. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! I couldn't help myself - I ate two pieces.
Sue - We love getting the produce boxes. They practice sustainable farming, so there's no watering, just use of the existing water tables in the ground and whatever rain we get during the summer. We're very low on rain this year, so we'll see what happens. The tomatoes the past few years have been abundant, and I've been able to can quite a few.
5 miles this a.m. with 1 easy, 3 at race pace, 1 easy. Race pace?? Note to Coach: I don't have a race pace. I have a slow pace and a Lord-help-me-get-to-the-aid-station-before-the-cutoff pace. Race pace? What the heck is a "race pace?"
The office is closed tomorrow and, as a co-inky-dink, it's an SRD! Woo hoo! Those two haven't collided in a long time. Su-Weet!

Tammy,...what race is that.....???
7,25 miles for me early in the morning, another beautiful summer day here......oh please,......keep them coming..!!!!
The last souvenir from the R&R is a sore toenail...probably it will be a long lasting reminder...in any case it takes more than that to stop me from my daily run!!
I'm considering a 5K race on the 4th.....I might not be that speedy though and I'm taking the kids to a Green Day concert the night before!!!
Has anyone heard from Tet...???
A good day and happy runs to all!!
Francesca
Resting? get a hug!!!
Tammy, I was thinking the same...just last week I was leaving for Seattle
Holly, your daughter sure knows what she wants...just like mama
Tramps, you are on the DL? how did I miss that?
Where in the world is twocat.
Sue, great progression run. YOU go girl.
Carolyn, congrats on the terrific HM last weekend, I think I was in lala land and never took the time to say how proud I am of you.
8 progression miles for me this early morning. Ran up to the cherry orchards, ate some cherries, turn around and ran a wii little bit faster on the way back home.
Working half day again today. My sons are driving me to Osyoos, BC for an afternoon of playing at the lake, visiting a few winenaries and authentic indian food for dinner.
SRLopez, I have not seeing any Tobias's update lately. Is he totally recovered from the surgery?
Did you guys know that Aamos's laughter is like a peaceful symphony? Man, I love that lady. She is great here on the board, but in person she is like pure honey. Sweet and poweful. I was so glad to finally have met one of my idols.
go Econo go!!! You are ready sister, just relax, go within and run your heart out!!!
Francesca, I would have loved to run with you too. Maybe next time.
Tetsujin called us from Japan during the Seattle adventure. He is doing great, playing a bagabond and having a great time hanging out with the marathon maniacs (well, their version of MM in Japan).
BTW, thanks Tet for the nice fans you sent to the goddess and the goodies you sent to the gods. The cookie was delicious.
"Dream big...then run hard toward those dreams!!!
Francesca - We are staying with friends in Snohomish while we are there and that weekend is Kla Ha Ya Days and there's a 5 mile run/1 mile run in town that morning. I haven't registered yet, or even seen what the cost is. I just noticed it in the Northwest Runner magazine I picked up at the Expo, so figured I might go run it.
I'd also like to pop in and see your store (Woodinville right?) while we are there. I'll need to find out from you where it's located exactly. It's been so long since I've been in W'ville and I'm sure it's totally different than it was 10 yrs ago.
I totally agree!
And for you, Butterfly Lady, who's already doing progression runs - you continue to be amazing! It was indeed a joy to meet you in person as well. (Tammy, too, and Francesca, and Tim, and Laura, and Rassmusson and DW, and Divechief, and Dove, and Erika).....
Will you tell Tet, if you e-mail him, that I sorely missed seeing him?
ooooooooooh cherries! Mariposai - I am insanely jealous. I miss the Michigan cherries and blueberries so much!
Tammy - I enjoyed your race report - don't worry, they can never be too long ;-).
dg - love the doggie umbrellas! Funny, I was wishing I had an umbrella handy for Jesse this morning. I do try to take at least one complete rest day/week. It has traditionally been whichever weekend day I don't do my long run, but now that DH has gotten his new bike, he wants to go biking on our non-running weekend day. Wednesday may become my new official rest day since it's hard to fit the lunch workout in amongst the scheduled meetings anyway. I just hate the idea of not doing anything. Those darn calories are always lurking and ready to gang up on me.....
Holly - I think that much chocolate is just too much for a small child........we'll help you out and take care of that cake so you don't harm your DD.........;-).
Leslie - beautiful scenery!! Enjoy your long weekend!
I did get my core and weight workout in during my lunch hour. I'm still have some muscle soreness, but nothing like it would be if I skipped the workout and tried to start back again next week.
