Over in the daily, I mentioned that I would probably be to the cottage by 4:00. I think it might even be earlier than that. Although I see there is a Costco in Eureka so now I'm thinking I'll just pop in there (is it possible to 'just pop into a costco') and pick up beer, snack stuff, some fruit, etc. for sharing.  I have a Costco card and have had one for 3 yrs and used it only once.

Tammy - Our local Grocery Outlet has pineapples on sale of $1.99 each.  They're really good.  I had planned to pick up a couple for this weekend.  If there are any other snacks you want me to get either there or at Winco where I'll be doing the bulk of the shopping, let me know.  Winco's fruit selection isn't hugely spectacular, but they have the basics (apples, oranges, mandarins).  The pears I looked at a couple of days ago weren't very ripe, but I'll give them another look tonight as I was wondering if you all wanted me to pick up some breakfast items for you or something?  Costco has the muffins, things like that in their bakery.

Just in case - I plan to bring a couple of big bowls, a couple of good kitchen knives, a large pot for cooking spaghetti.  I'd rather have those available and not need them than get down there and find out we could've used them.

I'll also look and see if we have briquettes and starter fluid.

PS - I also sent this to you via email.

Thanks Leslie - I responded via email.

just an aside - a local running friend of mine is running this as her first marathon. She's relatively new to running, but has run several HM's in just a couple yrs, most of our smaller local races, etc. She and her boyfriend were also on my relay team that I captained last summer.  Anyways, she's as nervous as all get-out about running on Sunday.  They are staying at a casino near Eureka but I'm really hoping that race morning I'll have an opportunity to introduce her to some of you so that if you see her on the course (she's slower, I think her half time is about 2.5 hrs), shouts of encouragement will lift her up.  I do plan on hanging around the finish area until I see her complete her first marathon and also plan on guesstimating when she might be finishing so I can run a couple miles back on to the course and run in with her.

Hey--when you guys all get together, don't stop posting in here.  I want to hang out with you all, too.  I wish they had tracking apps like Boston...hey...maybe they do...hang on....

...nope, they don't.  I wish all the marathons had the tracking capabilities....but then I would get nothing else done on the weekends.

Enkephalin, the Easy Pacer and I are off now from Florence to meet up with the gang. Our ETA  is about 4. First we will stop to get our bib numbers.

MikeE, we will post often, if we cell reception there. I will start a new thread just for the race and party news.

At least you'll have the flying Pig texts to keep you awake in church tomorrow

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.
