Mr. Forward and I are arriving on Thursday.  I'm still waiting to hear back from Elite Racing about what VIP suite we'll be staying at.

chill kidlets! I will send details on the house in an e-mail to those staying there. I meant to do it last week, but got busy and forgot. Sorry... But there's a shuttle from the finish area up to the start, so I figured we'd just pile into whatever cars we have, drive to the finish, shuttle to the start and have our cars waiting for us there at the end. As for arrival times, I'd prefer to do that using the e-mail group I have. Peter and I will arrive sometime Thursday, as early as we can (don't have tix yet, waiting for a special or something) and have the house ready. We'll go get Holly (who gets in Friday, right?), and anyone else who needs a ride.

As for food, we'll just do whatever on Thursday but Friday will be the big pre-race pasta dinner and Saturday AFTER the race would be the best time for the all out bash (IMO... right?).

Are you folks getting e-mails from the Seattle R&R marathon?  I haven't received any or any sort of confirmation, although I do have the receipt I printed at time of payment.  Aren't they assigning corrals?
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

I get the feeling they work on one Rock n Roll race at a time.  Now that San Diego is over, we should hear from them soon.  Smile

I was looking into that yesterday. Apparently you find out your corral when you get your packet. If you don't like your corral assignment (i.e., want to move up) you can go see someone there at the time. If you want to move back, you just do that on your own. I'll forward you the last couple of e-mails I got.

wow - I've never been in a race big enough for corrals.   I was wondering if we have an option of getting our bib numbers personalized with our name or nickname?  I don't recall specifying that on the registration. anyone know?

Is there any interest in the headliner concert over at Marymoor? Marymoor is sort of a hassle to get to when you are staying in Seattle, but Keb Mo is a good musician.

Got your email Erika and printed out the directions. And check is in the mail. Thanks!

You will get a letter (a physical letter, not email)  1-2 weeks before the race.  It will tell you the corral and your race number.  You NEED this piece of paper to pick up your packet.  They will also send out an email just beforehand showing you how to download a copy of the letter if you don't receive it or lose it.

It is also your waiver and they will make you sign it.  Your corral number will be the first digit...or two digits... of your race number.

They will have a special booth if you want to move up in corrals.  They do not reprint your number.  Instead, they just apply a little sticker to it and write in your new corral.  Not very technical.

BTW, at San Diego, they were really lax about corrals... and once you got in one, you could move forward or back, they didn't much care.  HOWEVER, in San Antonio, this was not true.  They were very stickler-y about it.  I assume it comes down to the local org and volunteers.

Nicknames - most of the rnr races let you specify this when you register.  I had a nickname on my bib in San Diego.  HOWEVER, it is very easy to miss this field when you are registering.  Anyway, it is too late.  If you haven't already personalized, they won't reprint bibs.  But you can write on it with a sharpie.  Or a Shar Pei.

                    Resting? get a hug!!!

I have yet to receive a single email from the R&R folks, except the when I registered. I better go and check if I am in the list.

corral?????? wow that is kind of scary for my shy wings.

                      No offense.

                        Folks.

This race closed out at 25,000 people.

Make sure you know what you've gotten yourselves into.  It will be a zoo, especially at the start.  If you are planning on trying to meet up with each other during or after the race, come up with something creative.  They WILL have a family meet-up area afterward, probably organized by letters.  Consider picking a not-very-much-used letter (but not X, they won't have an X).

My Hawai'ian friends always either meet up at H (for Hawai'i) or O (for Ohana).

                          Folks.

I have no clue what I've gotten myself into, or who the person was that talked me into believing I could run a freakin' marathon. I think I was under the influence at the time.

What should I do now? Do you think they'll let me just run a mini-marathon instead of the full marathon?  surely these things come in different distances for folks like me who have no idea what in the hell they were thinking . . .

                          Tammy

Well, it should be interesting, to say the least. Certainly the least well-prepared physically of any race I've ever done. I think we should pick "W" or "V" ( ) for the family meeting area. "W" would've been a good idea for last year's Boston but nobody bothered to show up! Oh, except for me. For Hours. And Holly stopped by. But everyone else just blew it off (not that I'm harboring any resentment or anything...).

I'll send the e-mails I've been getting out to the house group. You guys should be getting these...

well V would work and we even have someone whose last name starts with a V!

I do receive the monthly newsletters. I seem to recall at some point signing up to get them. I think you had to do that in order to get them - so for those of you not receiving them, you probably just didn't sign up specifically for the newsletters. Although you'd think if you registered and indicated an email that it would just be automatic.

I printed out the course map, course description and will probably start mesmerizing it during my taper time. I figure that will be a good diversion since I won't be running as much. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? you'll have to help me out here folks. . . this is all so new to me. What else do I do during taper?

25 thousand people...well, this should be a nice practice for me then for when I get into NYC marathon.

Tammy, don't worry... you will be able to find me easily...I will wear my big wings for you.

Thanks for the great pointer there King!
