Seattle R&R...let the planning, dreaming and party begin!!!! (Read 1260 times)

can't find it Mari. I think because you set it up as a private group, I can't do a groups search under that name.

Where did you send invites to?

I have not received it, either.
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

isn't everybody at Facebook? you can make private groups at FB also.

oh, I don't think Erika is there though . . .Erika - why aren't you on Facebook??

        Tammy

Grrrr! Just because I don't. want. to.

I have enough internet distractions going on, I decided long ago to leave all the MySpace, Facebook, etc, off the table. I do use Yahoo groups, though... but haven't received an invitation or anything.

Mariposai? (do you check your quiindy e-mail??)

I'm still around and running....need to figure out how I can contribute to the festivities..I could provide some food and cooking pre /post marathon..  Nancy...I think you have my email..let me know how you're communicating behind the scenes.....of course I'm sort of local but unfortunately not very mobile due to work/family..would love to meet everybody before the race..

as expected, mariposai forgot to taper before the Wenatchee Marathon but set a nearly 20 minute PR anyway.

Let`s give her another duck chance, . . . just run the whole RnR for fun. . . . without a garming.

ok, obviouly I am so totally ignorant about creating a yahoogroup account.  I will go and check the account and see what I did wrong. I will try again.

Erika, yes, I do check my nancyquiindy account, but have not done so in the last 10 days...just too busy, but I will make sure I check it daily now. Your check is on its way.

Francesca, I added your name to the group list. To date we have no set plans for meals and such, but we will get to it as soon as we are connected in shadowland.

                    MM#209 / JapanJoyful#803

I:ve been a little worried about all my boomer buddies coming all the way to seattle and then being devastated with their performces if fizzling out on the daunting Aurora hills or something <<<(timmy/timmy)>>>> so, thinking of former Ironman champion Sally Edwards tradition of alway being last place in her Danskin Womens` Triathlon Series, I`ve been wanting to attempt an eight marathon so, no matter what the clock says, not even someone who hasn`t run a marathon since doing the difficult Equinox Marathon back with some high school buddies in the forties <<<(MrErika/MrErika)>>> (to say nothing of having three bad soccer knees), will have to leave suffering the ignominy of last place.

However, I love dead glorious last (DGL) as it`s way better than the alternative at my chronology so, after a Saturday Marathon on 6/6 around the Imperial Palace in the pouring down rain, when the Japan 100 Marathon club invited me to join one of their weekly Sunday Marathons, I at first said  "ie, ie" (no/no) as I knew Sunday temperatures were predicted to be into the high eighties.

However, when told that several of the members were probablyl going to be in the eight hour range, and knowing that the route was along parts of the historic Tokaido Road, I expressed deep-felt appreciation for such an honor .

As a result, I am proud to say that my new marathon PR is 8:44:30 (tied for last place with a 670 marathoner who became a good friend over the course of the day), more than an hour-and-a-half better than my old PR from 2006,

Accordingly, I am confident to say that I will let nobody beat me for the Red Lantern in the Seattle Rock`n`Roll.

                      viva la last place!

                        What was I thinking...

with son graduating from college this week, moving him back home next week, exchange student son leaving the following week....I will not have time to keep up with the yahoogroup chat, which is not working any how. Please someone else start planning the events and the weekend, I will join the group on Thursday of the event.

Hey, are we going to see Keb Mo?
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

I'm neutral on Keb Mo. I have a few of his CD's and have seen him perform before. He's good, but I was sort of surprised that he was the headliner for a Rock & Roll marathon. I expected a more high energy performer/band.

I'm also disappointed that the concert is taking place over on the eastside of Lk Washington. Traffic and long lines backed up across the bridges will likely be an issue.   Personally, I'm not sure Keb Mo is worth it and I'm more inclined to hang out at the house, grill, sit back, play in the lake, and start cleaning up the house, since we have to be out the following morning.

                            my two cents.

and as far as the yahoo group goes - so far it's only Nancy, Me and my friend Laura over there. Is it even worth having a private group to talk about logistics - or can that just be done here?

Long lines and traffic?  Nope, I think your idea is way more fun.  I'll hang at the house with you.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

                              No offense.

I imagine that the concert will be sparsely attended... certainly by seattle-side locals, probably by out-of-towners who don't have a rental car.

And definitely by those who, like me, said "who the heck is Keb Mo???" when this was announced.  Which has been most of the people I know... more people in this thread seem to know of this person than anywhere else I've checked.

Maybe Keb Mo is an old person thing.

                                HEE.

(in fairness, the band at San Diego was English Beat... a band I know from my yoot and definitely for sure now an old person thing)
