headed back to my hotel to put some ice on my knee and to get a good night sleep. . . . I was most happy to see the finish line and I didn't care that I was going to run a 4 hour, 45 minute . . . personal slowest, I still finished in one piece and was very grateful to be able to run when so many others in the world are only able to crawl! I feel so humbled after an event like this http://barefootrunner.org/reports/08surfcity/08surfcity.htm
Rick - It's a rare fast runner who can find any joy at all in an injury-hampered PS marathon but once it happens marathoning is never the same. In fact, don't be surprised if the PS Surf City turns out to rank as one of your best for a long time. With discovering your joy in the run and not the clock and with dedicating your running to others, you are the one who humbles us. Now get over to ilene's Intrepid so we can keep track of your good runs and good works, . . . and get yourself a little farther north the next time you're on the West Coast. - jon

Always the gentleman, Jon. I appreciate you replying although I am certainly remiss with my involvement on these boards. It was a tough one! But I persevered. It will be one I will be proud of for a while. Thanks buddy!

Yes, that was a major league rainstorm that swept through Southern California Sunday morning. I don't know how you all got through it. It was challenging enough driving through it! The work you do for your organization is most admirable. I hope many others read your report. You persevered when you weren't 100% (probably a lot less than that even) under very challenging climactic conditions. Certainly, I think that is a tremendous achievement. Congratulations! huskydon

Hello BR, I think we keep doing races and not meeting each other (weren't you at Dallas White Rock?)... Great job on the marathon. It was a lousy day but you toughed it out, bum knee and all. Congratulations! Glad you met KenBob too! I always see him at these local races and am in awe of how anyone can run barefoot, since I have one leg shorter than the other and need all these shoes and orthotics to keep me upright. Hope you continue to raise funds for your wheelchair organization.

Thanks! Yeah, we missed each other at DWRM. This may be the 6th marathon I have ran with Ken Bob. Will have to go back and look in my stats. No, it's the 7th, cause I ran Boston twice with him. We'll meet someday. It will happen.
