My Uterus Will Fall Out?

Ev - 45 loads?!?  We're not that dirty.  It was 4 OR 5 loads.

Joe - Ack!  Been watching the weather on the news.  Cripes.  And now flooding in the Mid West.  We've been very lucky in that we've had a very mild winter.

Arla - This next weekend is my longest 28/16, then I step down to 20/10, then 10/6, then . . . . gulp.  Sounds like you're taper is going great, and yes, I think a massage before each run is probably the ticket.  Even more so than all the training.

Cindy - Your Green run sounds like fun.  Glad your and Mairead's aches and pains stayed away.

Carol - Good for you on tackling the core work.  Now we just need work on Jewels a bit in that area.

Due to a severe lack of sleep last night, I didn't work out today.  My head hurt, my stomach was queasy, and I had absolutely no oompf.  It probably would've helped to workout, but my "screw it" voice took over.

Two more people are sick at work.  I think this thing has gone through almost the entire support staff and half the attorneys.  Ugh!  To be honest, I was really peeved that our receptionist came in today when she was so frigging sick.  She's really a great kid, but for crying out loud!  When you're that sick, stay home!  I don't know.  Maybe I have a lower work ethic, but when I'm sick like that, I prefer to NOT share my good fortune with everybody else.

Okay - Complaining done.  I'm gonna go soak in the tub, then hit the hay, and hopefully have a restful night of sleep.

    Later my friends -

More later, ps Cindy and Doug BB is on our calendar .

..........and why is it I was a grade school spelling bee champ and now I type words and come back and read them a day later that I know were spelled wrong?????? creeping senility??????

The whole world said I shoulda used red but it looked good to Charlene in John Deere Green!!

Just one word Leslie- Lysol. Spray everything with it including your co-workers.

Don't worry Jim, we're probably all too old and senile to notice.

I'm free at last !!!! 58* sunny degrees out yesterday evening (thanks Cindy) for my 10, then aerobics.

Just one word Leslie- Lysol. Spray everything with it including your co-workers.

          No kidding!

Jim - I can't remember the correct words to even get them typed.  It's very irritating.

Did 10 miles w/strides today, and around Mile 7.5, my legs felt totally pooped.  I still managed to finish the 10 in around 1:40.  When I start to get slower than that, I'll know there's a problem.

Went and saw my MAT therapist today.  More very interesting discussions re barefoot running, the proper way to do lunges, using resistance bands for training while doing lunges, etc., nutrition.  I could sit and talk to this guy for hours.  He gave me a new idea for a running food - beans (like black beans) mushed up and spread in a corn tortilla.  Am gonna give it a go this weekend.

          Take care, peeps ~

Beans ,eh? Well , I won't say anything.......

Bummer incident on last night's run. Was on mile 8 of my 10er, down on the beach road ,dark by now,  heading back when I was interrupted by a guy on the sidewalk. Turned down the ipod and thought he was asking for directions when he spoke the dreaded words "Have you seen a dog?" He had been on the beach and now could not find his Beagle. Told him that I had not, told him what area I just came from. He said thanks and I was on my way. I could not stop thinking about it so I turned around and backtracked to where the guy had been. I thought maybe I could help him find the dog but both him or his dog were nowhere to be seen. Hope that they found each other ok.

            My Uterus Will Fall Out?

Joe - It always kills me to see dogs out on their own.  I figure most of them are escape artists, and I feel sorry for the owners.  I've tried to capture a couple that had tags, to no avail.

Re the beans - pfft, pfft!!  Look at 'er fly!

1.25 hrs of core/strength this a.m.  Since I'm alone at work today, will get out of here early and go get in my 3 miles or 30 minutes.

Got my hair cut today - shortest it's ever been.  Went from it being a long bob (I guess that's what you call it) to short, short, short.  I love it!!  I had to go to a different hairdresser 'cause mine had major emergency surgery last week.  I showed her a picture, she says, "Oh, that'll be cute!" and starts whacking away.  I kept talking trying to not be nervous, but I finally said, "I'm a little nauseous.  You're just cutting away like it's not big deal." (nervous laugh).  She just chuckled and said, "It'll be fine," and kept whacking away.  Five-minute blow dry tops.  Woo hoo!

              Later ~

Leslie - don't forget the old trick of soaking the beans overnight before cooking them. As it says in Joy of Cooking, an overnight soak is kinder to the beans and kinder to the cook!

Joe - sad story. I tried to help a guy catch his dog the other day, she was just having fun and running away from him and everyone else - I had no luck, and could only watch as he followed her down the street. And - why run 10 and then do aerobics? Is it complimenting the running by working different muscles?

Easy 4 today, the last mile barefoot. The alternating warm and cool sidewalk as I passed into and out of shade felt great!

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

                  Hey folks.

I've been absent for a few days but now I'm back in full force.  Got a nice 6er in a couple days ago at my Overholser route.  Then a twingy hip which now feels A-OK and now a twingy knee (a different kinda of twingy than last week).  Me thinks it's a combo new shoes and residual effects of the 20miler last Sunday.  I'm sure these are just minor annoyances and probably not even worth mentioning.  But just lettin' you kow what's going on in ev's world.

Leslie, I do love the black beans.  We need a pic of the new "do".

Jim....when Cindy, Doug and BB are mentioned in the same sentence, it must be Boulder Bolder......or is it Bolder Boulder?

Joe.....great new avatar.  And "quotidian" ?   Lately it seems you have a new avatar and new word almost daily.

Arla said, "The alternating warm and cool sidewalk as I passed into and out of shade felt great!"  I love when these seemingly insignificant occurrences happen, yet we are so in tune that we not only take notice, but we appreciate their beauty.  (beauty was not exactly the word I was looking for, but I had a case of lethogica.)

                  Tippboy.....you still with us?

                  Quit being so damn serious!

Moderate snow and high winds now but hoepfully things will subside later in the day. NOAA weather backed off snow amounts for today to the 1-3 range on top of a couple from last nite. If the wind goes down I;ll get out this evening. I missed running on an absolute goregous day yesterday due to another doc appmt for dad in another little big town (Scotsbluff) 150 mi away but about done for now. The good news is he is basically healthy, extremely so in some areas (blood pressure @ 118/60 untreated) the most troubling news is he has some symptoms of demtia in early stages. Some days his behavior is childish quite the contrast to the bulletproof decorated WWII artilery captain I grew up with. Soooo we do what we can do, and thats all we can do. He will be 90 in May.

Leslie sending you some virtual lysol, and your co-workers some virtual common sense to stay home when they are ill. Oh lots of black turtle beans used to be grown around here. They export alot of them to the middle east. High risk crop but less than most of the other bean types we used to grow. Volatile markets that didn't have enough risk premium and consoldation of processors that want us to be their contract slaves basically forced us out of the edible bean biz. I like to grow them but hated harvest as they had to lay on top of the ground to dry out and were vulnerable to rain, wind, hail you name it and at about 100k per field at risk made for many sleepless nights.

Ev sounds like you are training smart, paying attention to your bod. Yup bb is Bolder Boulder, cme on up u could use it for a recovery from your marathon then head up to the mtns.

Joe the dog incident would bother me and I'd be right there with ya looking.

Arla warm and cool sidewalks that sounds heavenly about now.

Hiya to Carol Jewels, Tip and anyone else.

                      Hi there,

I'm late to the party again, but have popped in to read a time or two.  Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well.

Jewels - any news from the doc yet?  Is your boss behaving better these days?

Joe - I'm so with you on not being able to pass by a dog/owner in need of help.  That's why we have 4!  Hope you can get in an uninterrupted run next time.

Cindy - you and Doug had a good race.  Glad you and Mairead are recovering from your injuries.  You busy working the kinks out of the spring break crowd?

Arla - how's your taper?  Your race is next weekend, right?  It always scares me trying to catch a dog by a roadway....so afraid they will run out in front of a car.  Glad you are enjoying the little pleasures of running!

Jim - your dad sounds so much like my FIL.  I see him having mostly good days, but at times he can get confused and very fixated on certain things.  Glad you are there for your dad, and you are right that there is only so much you can do.  Can't force them to move, etc. until they are ready, or things get worse.  It's a helpless feeling sometimes.

Leslie - hope you survived the week without picking up the bugs around the office.  I'm thinking one of those back packs like exterminators use with lysol in it.  You could douse them real good!  How much running you got on tap this weekend?

Ev - like your comments on Arla's experience.  So true.  Getting outside and noticing those things is great therapy.  Sounds like you're doing a good job of preventing the minor annoyances from becoming major pains in the *&&...or knee...or hip.

Hey to Stumpy, Tippy, and anyone else I may have missed.

Been keeping up the workouts this week.  Run X 3 (3 mi, 5 mi, 4.5 mi), Yoga X 1, Bodyworks + Abs Class X 1, Bike X 1, Swim X 2.  The Bodyworks + Abs class is kicking my butt, and everything else.  So I think I'm going to stick with once a week on that for now.  The 2nd class I was hoping to attend is on Friday evening, and that's just not happnin.  I'm basically using that class + the yoga as my core work.  Feed bag adjustments also going well.  Been averaging a 450 calorie deficit daily, so hoping to take it off slowly....and for good!

                         "quotidian"

                        Joe - You're so ordinary.

Jim - Interesting about the beans.  Don't think I've ever heard of black turtle beans.  I'm assuming they're not your basic black bean?

Arla - Is your marathon next weekend or the following?

Carol - Good job on your workouts this week!

Got home early yesterday and did my 3 miles.  Did a little forward running, a little backward running, a little grapeving, a little side running.  Felt good to work different muscles, although I'm sure the folks driving past me thought I was nuts.

Tomorrow is my last looong weekend - 28/16.  Karen's out of town, but my coach has agreed to run 16 of the 28 with me, when I hit the trails.

Three of us here locally have to have our pics taken for the LSI quarterly magazine, so my other boss is taking 'em.  She's a fantastic photographer.  When she emails me my pic, I'll show you my new do.  Am even happier with it today than yesterday.  Felt weird washing my hair, though.  There's no ponytail to squeeze water out of.

                        Happy Friday!!

Leslie Blacks and Black turtles are the same thing but not to be confused with a black soybean, thats a whole 'nother plant. They are just a touch too long of season for us here but not quite as touchy if they get rained on when they are on the ground. I like the taste of them personally. I grew more pinto's than anything. I also grew pinks and light red kidney beans. The kidneys are the highest risk and they kicked my butt both years I grew them.

Good luck with your big double.
