Hate it when I hit "quote" instead of "modify".
Hey SubDood! It looks like you're getting ready to go under 3 at Twin Cities!
Hey Mike!
Thanks! As much as I'd love to do that, I would be very happy to PR at Twin Cities (a 3:09 or better). I've trained using the Hanson's plan as if my goal MP is 6:52 (which is probably what you are referring to). But I'll definitely play it by ear and see how I feel. I think a 3:05 is doable given my training, and I would be thrilled with that. If I try too hard to stay on pace for 3 hours, I'll probably end up crashing like I did at Boston.
Emotions will be hard for me to keep in check. This will be the 20th anniversary of my first marathon, the 1994 Twin Cities Marathon. I still have the t-shirt!! My father was there at the finish line to meet me that year. He died a little more than a year later of lung cancer. I think about him a lot when I think about this particular race.
Geez, I almost forgot! Good luck in the VT 50 next week! I can't wait to read the race report.
Bob
Wow...that is really weird. 1994 was my first Twin Cities, too...it was my first marathon. I did 9 more. In 2000 my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer...she came out to see me at mile 13 that year. I ran off the course and gave her a hug. She yelled at me to keep going...she was pretty competitive. She died a few months later. It was hard for me to run by that spot the next few years.
Thank you, Holly!

Yesterday I did an easy 6-hourrun with "Broadway Ultra Society". The two mileloop in the park was very flat and comfortable, and the weather was nice too. Not going to run today
Eked out 40 (40.5) with 26.2 of that at once. I took an extra day off because I was feeling tired during this final week of taper (and previous week's workouts were delayed a bit). So I rested Tuesday, Thursday, raced Saturday, and could barely walk or even move on Sunday.
