Have you ever heard of a free 5K?
A local promotion here in Seattle has a free 5K on 10/11 that’s interested a lot of local runners who wouldn’t otherwise bother with a 5K.

Unfortunately, my 83-yo Ironman mentor seems to have recovered from all the aches and pains of having his car totaled in August that allowed me to beat him in a race  . <<<(LaborDayHalfMarathon)>>> for the first time ever since he clobbered me by more than an hour in our first race in the 1987 Ironman Hawaii. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

10/11 tetsujin - Denali Dash 5K (Redmond, WA) - barefoot

Tet, the above mentioned 5K is free for all runners over 80 (that means me). Also the is a free 2.5 mile and 5 mile non award races every Saturday am in Cambridge, Ma.

That's great about the sans-fee races for octogenarians..

I'd probably run even if I didn't want to just to show appreciation.

Fortunately, with all the Marathon Maniacs around here in the PNW, there's a half-dozen or more marathons that are free or minimal donation for everyone.and the Seattle Marathon has a $10 discount for 60-y0+.  It should be the equivalent of the runners' age to have any substance though. .

The Denali Dash is the first free fun run I've heard of though.

Don’t want to make dave envious so don’t tell him but DD wanted to know if I was available for some GS duty this weekend, and into the week too, so 5-6 mile Tour’d’Zoo trying to keep up to 5-yo bundle of energy and finding as many ABC animals as possible will supplant UW 10K Husky Dash for this year.
