WRFB some days 20 is just not in the cards. Still 19.25 is pretty darn close for "bonking!"
Twocat, thanks! Hey, did I see you over at the sporttracks forum complaining that old man biking (temporarily) broke the powertrack plugin? Glad he fixed that -- I don't know how to do my log without it -- that's where I get my weather information. (Nice work on the hardware!)

RE: Shoes... Sue I know what you mean. I'm really glad I did NOT keep those Nimbus 10's. I kept thinking, maybe it's just my feet today... I ran a total of 4 miles in mine on three different days (testing on the treadmill) and they just felt all wrong. I know Byll hasn't had a problem with his, but for me I'm thinking my Asics Nimbus days are done. I'm buying all the 9's I can find in my size (10.5... not easy to find!), and will start looking for a replacement. Anyone run in the Brooks Defyance or Glycerin shoes? They have a good guarantee, thought I'd check them out...
Hi evanflein, I currently run in Brooks Glycerin. Very nice but a bit too narrow for me. I am getting my Brooks Defyance today and will let you know how they workout. I used to run in the Nimbus 9, but for some peculiar reason my 2nd pair was a total dog and bugged the heck out of my right leg Confused. That's when I decided to go for the Brooks Glycerin. So biketm, yes, I have experienced the same problem as you have with shoes. XT day today (squats, lunges, jumps, stair stepping, etc.) after 2 days of orthotic free running (4 miles track workout, 8 miles on dirt and hills). Feeling pretty good, just really hungry (pizza??) Tongue Hello Spareribs, I am glad you got good news.

Tramps - the other day you posted links to software you recommend downloading with your Garmin, but I can't find that post. Can you tell me which day you posted that so I can revisit it? (jeesh, after owning it a year she finally gets around to the extras...)

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

2 miles barefoot on the sand tonight while the kids played. Mom went back with my sister tonight and I got to talk to my Dad. He's sounding stronger, but still exhausted. I hope to get to see him on Wednesday. I'm not sure how the hospital will take to my arriving with my two little ones, but there's no back up in the summer for me with my husband traveling. Oh yeah, and what to do with the dog? Yipes, haven't thought this all through yet... Undecided Good running today and yes, it is weird to have so many views vs. the average day.

Twocat! That's huge! When do we get all the details, like title of the article and the journal and all that good stuff? I bet there's a colon in the title, no? You know, like: The Falacy of the Historical Dicotomy: why the "either'or" distinction is obsolete in Sino-Soviet Diplomacy. Seriously, Congrats. --nono, sorry for all you're going through. Wish I had something to offer beyond just empathy. Say, I had a hard day at work (o ya, hold the sarcasm) and decided to run when I got home, as lunch was spent at the gym [but I couldn't bring myself to do butt busters, Holly]. Whoa, all that angst from work resulted in a brilliant run, given that I had only the intention of cruising around to clear out the cobwebs. Instead, it was a 10K in under 50 minutes, and at 83 degrees and over 50% humidity (I know, Tramps, a cool spell). OK, now I have to go send some of whatever it is I got out there thru the tube (Red Sox on TV) as the Angels have gone and dusted up my boys. grins, A Did we get to Rag Doll with the Joisey boyz? Wink

Oh my goodness! Thank you all for just being here and letting me vent/work through my feelings. I know I postponed motherhood to the almost comically late, and I guess so did my mother, and grandmother, but sheesh! I just need to become an octopus and it would all work out much better. Running those lousy two miles tonight pulled me out of a depressed, empty feeling I got after my mother left. Being a boomers forum, and a group of athletes, I feel more at-ease sharing it all. Thank you all for letting me let it out! Smile

7.2 miles easy pace with a young lady (35 yrs.) training for her 1st marathon in Oct. at Columbus. I know her Dad, he was an ultra runner who has done several 100 milers. He has had a couple rounds with cancer the last 4 years and is just starting to run again. She complained about how her husband is a overweight couch potato, I think I've heard that before. Roll eyes She's in decent shape, managed a 2:06 half at Cleveland in May, but her heart alarm went off it said 195 Shocked wow we were only going at a 10:00 pace. I did a couple fartleks then turned around and went back to her so I probably did 7.4 miles. Anyway it was nice to run with someone new. Smile

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.

10K fairly ez at lunch in the hot muggy weather. Girls went off with my parents to the cottage this morning. Joining them on Friday. Had a drink with my lady friend tonight...okay I think I am falling for her for all the right reasons. My turn to cook dinner on Thursday night. Hope I am up to the task... Need to put together a nice menu. Thinking barbecued shrimp and steak with a nice homemade salad and strawberry cream puffs could work.... Lots of cleaning to do. My house is usually fairly clean..but for some reason lately it's slipped, must be the summer weather. Take care Tall
