Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Wow, two days in a row with Wifey (she's also a Master at 56 years old); this was her first winter time snowmobile trail experience beyond six miles. Yeah, she was pretty whipped when we got done, but she was really happy to have done it.
My first solo cemetery run in weeks; it was about 5°F tonight so I got a chance to find out how well my new beard can keep my face warm. Ohhh, comfy.
Had to keep the horses in today because of the cold, which meant double stall duty; that and I'm cooking chili for 100 at a soup kitchen this Saturday and I needed to recon their cooking facilities. Long story short, no running today.
Had my 1-Year post cataract surgery check-up; yes, I can still see and have two healthy eyes! I celebrated with a 10-miler on the nice cold and crunchy snow of the trail.
Another lonely ten miler in the cemetery on a ten degree night. Can't wait for Daylight Savings Time.
12.5 miles
Managed to sneak in a nice trail run before heading off to the soup kitchen.
15.5 miles
Second day in a row with a soft and a bit slippery granular surface on the snowmobile trail. Footing was a bit suspect and I'm really exhausted.

Fat old man PRs:
Yes, Holly, I would say steady-state runs are slightly faster than MP. I don't have a plan this week, except to get over bronchitis, so I'm sure I'll need a free pass.
M-F Feverish, in bed mostly, but on antibiotics with hope of a quick recovery
Saturday...4.81 mi. with the club and I'm still ahead of the freakin' Swamp bunny!
Sunday......6.3 mi. and could have used some more oxygen.
Total.........11.1 mi.

This was supposed to be a cutback week, I'm struggling with
a chronic pain in the left foot. But by the end of the week, having
skipped two days, I was really itching to go. Yes, I was registered
for the Manhattan Half, but it does not mean anything. They have
cancelled it in the past because of snow, and there was a snowstorm
yesterday. At 5am on race day they posted a confirmation on the website, and
I decided to give it a try. 18 degrees at the start, and some winds.
They did a great job of cleaning and salting the road. 25th overall,
5th in the AG (45-49)
Ummm. I guess I forgot to post that I was in.
Managed 53.5 miles with one race which was the hardest 5k XC race of my life. 6+" of snow, 25 degrees and 20 mph winds. Man I enjoyed it and had a blast. 3AG and our team finished 3rd behind some young punk HS and college XC teams.

That is a pretty darned impressive run; congratulations, you should be very proud.
shipo, thanks! I have not been under 1:23 in almost 4 years now,
so that's good. but I cannot help thinking that
I was on 1:21 pace with a group of three other runners
until mile 10 or so. They all ended up doing 1:21, so I feel like I had a chance
