Boston Meet-Ups? (Read 688 times)

Karin!  I have to get home to check our reservations, as I 'm not sure if we're going on Friday or Saturday--but if it's Friday, I'd love to meet you for lunch (our treat) Saturday.  Keep it open, please, and we'll check in once we're back (if we maintain normal responsibilities and sanity--we so want to just call in and say, "sorry, we're just staying here in Ft. Myers!")

Anyone interested in going to Fenway for a game?

Anyone interested in going to Fenway for a game?

Hmmm...I haven't been in Fenway in nearly 30 years!  Are you thinking Sunday afternoon or Saturday night?  (Actually, we're getting there on Friday so even that might be a possibility.)

I think a game sounds like a blast!

I'll find out on Friday (I think) about my volunteer assignment. I chose Saturday morning registration or information booth as my top choices, but we'll see what I get. I would love to meet up with whoever is in town by then or lives in town anyway! A late lunch---and/or walk??

I'll come in on Monday on the Greater Springfield Harriers running club bus (a Strong Co. charter bus) and it will be parked over in the charter busses area in the school parking lot. I'll be nervous, but always hoping to see a friendly face or two or three or---come on over!

Karin - you'll have to show me on a map where the charter buses park, and I will try to find you after the race for a post-race hug (and to hear how you rocked the course).
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

We're heading in on Friday. I'm going to wait and see what the weather is as far as a game goes.  There's a ticket agency, Higs, on Comm. Ave. that has Sox tickets.

They have some blocks for Friday, and I assume for the other days too.

                What fun Amy!

I'll be coming in on Sunday after all for my volunteer shift and meet-ups then. Holly, our best chance to meet up on race day (I'll see you Sunday) will be before the start. Look for me in the bus parking area--can't miss it since that's where all the charter and club busses are directed and we'll be there by 8 am. I'll get a ride with my guys after I am finished and won't be staying. They come in after seeing me at mile 13 and will scrape me off the ground fetch me just beyond the finish area.  I have to be on the road the next day. I'll be tracking you though and wondering since Dr. B and Dr J are also in wave 2.

Boston card and race booklet arrived in today's mail! Gulp....

                Bringing the skirt back

Are there any rumblings of a get-together like last year's at Robin's?  It was so much fun to meet so many of the folks that I feel I know already.  Not to mention TWO different and excellent homemade brews.

Yes!!!!  I will be hosting another get together!

Sunday, April 18 at 1 PM at my place.  113 Richdale Avenue, Cambridge.  All the kool masters runners will be there.

                    Yay, Robin!

Amy, I'm juggling things but still might be up for a game, especially if its Friday night.  I'll let you know.

Which leaves dinner Sunday.  Tell me more about this "trough"...and the alternatives.  I imagine every Italian place in the city gets swamped that night.  Shouldn't we make reservations soon--like now!--if we're planning something?

Robin--Thanks so much.  I sent my acceptance through Facebook.  Couldn't ask for a more charming set of hosts and hostesses.  Really looking forward to it.  Since I'm local, let me know if there's stuff that you might need help getting picking up.

Next?  Could there be 26.2 somewhere???

                      I can dream, can't I?

Robin - Excellent!  Erika already wrote that I'll be tagging along with her, if that's okay.

so generous of you Robin to do this again!!   I am really looking forward to the weekend!!

                            Thanks, Robin.

                            This will be great fun!

                            Marathon Maniac #957

Generally, the night before a marathon, I try to eat dinner early, 5:30 or 6pm, if possible, so I can get to bed pretty early as well.  Is that the timing you all are looking at for dinner Sunday?

Although, if Robin's party starts at 1pm, we're going to be eating lunch about 1:30 or 2pm, that will likely push dinner later.  Or, we could stay at her house and graze party right through the dinner hour....

Erika - this will be hardest on you, coming from four time zones away.  That's rough!

Tramps - the trough is the free-with-your-registration buffet-style dinner that is served under a big-top tent.  We went there in 2008, and I personally thought the food was fine, but we were eating outside and it was windy and chilly.  However, it was free, easy in and easy out, and if the weather were better, it would still be fine with me.  I'm all for no complications the night before a race, and I don't want to be stuck somewhere with an hour and a half wait.  I like to get back to the hotel with time to relax and lay out my race stuff.

                                Yay, Robin!
