I'm out this week. Getting a suspicious mole taken off my lower right calf today. Will have stitches and not allowed to run for a couple days.

Update 9.2.14 - Went to get the mole removed, Doctor said his gut feel was that it was benign and asked if I had any big runs coming up. He said it can wait to come off until after the Marine Corp Marathon. Rescheduled removal and I dont lose 10 days of training time. So I'm back in on the 40x40 this week...

              M - Rest & Recovery day.

T - 8.3 m Recovery pace after Sunday Half Marathon.

              W - 11.3 m. Nice run on a beautiful day!

              T - 9.7 m.

              F - 6.1 m.

              S - 2 m.

              S - 18 m. Good pace for a solitary long run.

              Total - 55.4 miles.

Wow, SubDood--you already have over 51 miles and you haven't even done your 1/2 marathon, yet...nice.  Hey--good luck, tomorrow.  I would have loved to have done this race--I have done a few of the 25k's and always wished it was only a half--but I'm training for this dang 50 miler.

My marathon is 4 weeks from today so it's time to take it back up a notch.

Found out nobody in the running group is really training for a marathon (except me).  The local marathon is in December (although there is a new one called Run Then Wine in a couple of weeks).

Mike -- I've been looking at your weekends and they look absolutely brutal! You ran a marathon (distance) yesterday, which means you are probably in the middle of a 32-miler today! That is awesome stuff -- I can't wait to hear how the VT50 goes. After today, I imagine you taper. But what does that mean for an ultra? Only 40 miles next weekend? I plan to do one ultra next summer -- the Afton Trail 50K. A baby ultra, perhaps, but not an easy one.

Today's 1/2 marathon was a case of me abandoning my plan and probably over-doing it. I had no intention of "racing" it when I started. My plan was to just run easy, have some fun on a nice part of the TCM route on a beautiful day, and maybe pick up the pace at the end. (I am following Hanson's, so I've got some really tough workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today should've been an easy 10 miles ... ) Anyhow, I was able to run roughly 7:10 pace for most of it without feeling like I was pushing it. I picked it up and ran the last mile at 6:32 pace. I know, pure stupidity on my part. We'll see how my 3 x 2 mile workout goes on Tuesday. At least the heat and humidity have lessened.

                              very impressive weekends, Mike.

Need a pass this week. 4 days of business travel and 12 hour days. 32.4 only but a new 10k course PR on Monday on a tough course was fun.
