How about we Reach the Beach together in 2015? (Read 58 times)

I am really excited to be a part of this team.  It has given me some needed focus to start running more and training.  The relay last year sure looked like a blast.  So anyone from RA that can swing those dates and help out the team, that would be awesome!!

"During a marathon, I run about two-thirds of the time. That's plenty." - Margaret Davis, 85 Ed Whitlock regarding his 2:54:48 marathon at age 73, "That was a good day. It was never a struggle."

    Trails are hard!

WTG, Enke!   It was indeed a blast.  So glad you'll be able to meet more of the East Coast RA clan.   however, I sadly won't be joining you and the rest of Rosie's finest this year.  A combination of too much work and not enough running budget will do me in.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited you are joining us Enke!!  Can't wait to meet you and run with you!!

I'm so bummed...I'm out this year!  I'm running my son's school's Family Fun Day that Saturday, and my Melanoma Foundation of NE 5K run is that Sunday. Lot's of responsibilities on my plate that weekend! I'm jealous (although my activities will be fun, they don't quite match up to the drama of running through New Hampshire with 11 friends!)

Yes deez.... I am sure we will have a blast.  I can't wait for both the pre and post parties, I sure hope there are some!

And then there were 12!!! We have a complete roster!   Six men and six women.  The clear winner of longest trip to run the race will certainly go to enkephalin this year!  Shortest trip from home to van this year, as last year, goes to coastwalker.  His house is the van delivery location so he just has to step out the door!  The bad news is he then lets make a mess at his place post race as we clean up ourselves and the vans.  More news to come!

We now have an official start time:  11:30am.  A bit earlier than in the past.  Fast we are not!  But cheat to win we will!  All for our namesake and others of similar bent!  As one of our van decorations says, "Why run when you can ride!"

                    an amazing likeness

Based on the 11:30AM start, I was pondering possible finish times. Saw Matt's post in the daily about the two predictions he has in hand (his vs RTB's). Here's some finish times based on some arbitrary average paces for each of the Van "stints". i used the miles from the course map RTB posted today.

Arbitrarily selecting the elapsed times from the 8:30 avg pace -- the time of day works out to (with some rounding):

                      stint Start         End
                      Van1-1      11:30AM 3:30PM
                      Van2-1 3:30PM 8:50PM
                      Van1-2 8:50PM 2:20AM
                      Van2-2 2:20AM 7:50AM
                      Van1-3 7:50AM 12:30PM

I am sad to report that another year's relay is over with.  But I am happy to report that it was a great 30 hours!  I had a blast as always and I hope my teammates did as well.  Next year is the team's 10 anniversary and I hope to see a lot of RAers on it!
