"This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, love to completed your life."
Thanks for letting me whine yesterday. I felt like a woose, but needed to vent.
Jim - I love running past the pastures with the mommas and babies. The ones with the young bulls - they always get spooked and bolt. At the hotel, did they keep the rooms as cold as a frigging freezer? They always do at our conferences. Like they think we're all going to be having one big hot flash the entire time.
Ev - Always save me some stew. I'll even send my Tupperware via overnight mail!
Arla - You're gonna fairly float through your marathon. I can't' believe how much you've improved over the last year. Those HMs have really worked for you.
I got 15.40 of my 16 in today. Why not the final .60 you ask? My car was right there and it actually reached out and grabbed me and forced me into itself. Today when a bit better than yesterday, although I walked quite a bit of the last 3 miles. I was just pooped. Even stopped and sat on the sidewalk a couple of times during the run. I took along another thermos of chicken noodle soup, a turkey and avocado sandwich, and the requisite pretzels, etc. I used my car as an aid station and made two stops. The sandwich and soup went down better than anything, so for the last 3 miles, I dumped the rest of it in an empty bottled and took it with me. It doesn't stay warm, but the noodles are easy to chew and swallow than pretzels at that point. These two things may be what will get me through this training.
Have a great week, friends -

Good Monday morning to you all.....
Glad to hear Sundays's run went better for you Leslie......
Off to that wonderful thing called work, take care everyone!
Jewels
Hiya Kids, easy weekend of running for me. Only 6 on Sat and 3 on Sun with the Budster out at the park. Delightful 55* and bright sunshine. Played poker on Sat night with the boys and went to the St Patrick's Day Parade yesterday.
Word of the week:
Lethologica - the inability to remember a word or put your finger on the right word. As in-
I wish I could describe to you the amount of dedication it takes for Leslie to run 40 miles in two days, but I'm having a moment of lethologica right now.
See ya's
quitters never win
Joe - Did ya win at poker??
Jewels - When's the doc appt for your knee?
Rest day for me. Quads are a tad sore, but other than that, I feel pretty good - - except for the lack of sleep. The Hub got home around midnight, and that's pretty much when I night went to ka-poot. While he was gone, I slept like a champ. Now that he's back . . . . I just knew he was the problem.
On and off pouring rain and hail is the weather story of the day. Glad I work inside.
Have a great one!
Turkey and avocado sandwich........mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
If I had lethogica (which I do) how could I evr remembr what I had?
But I think I see your point with your new avatar and it's "Lethogica" subtitle. Very nice.
Top 'O the World!
I hab a code... & a stack of papers that need attention for tax calculations....But, Doug, Mairead & I did a quick 2 1/2 miles around the houses earlier.,..I just couldn't breathe for most of it! She's doing well as long as we keep it short & easyish....my foot is feeling pretty good...signed us up for the Running of the Green 7K next Sunday...I most likely won't be crankin it...just do the loop enrt the beer tent..
Hey ,there's Cindy.Take care of that cold eh.
Jewels- how's the cool weather treating you?
Jim- fantastic pics on the last thread. Some very beautiful spots to play in the snow!
Hi to everyone.
mta to answer Leslie's question. I won a few bucks which really means I was way down early, then made a late surge to end ahead. It's only a matter of $30- 40 either way, friendly stuff with a few close friends and my friend's Dad. Well my friend's Dad won most of the money and he's 89 yrs old! The fact that he was the only one not doing Tequila shots may or may not have something to do with it.
Cindy - Hope you're feeling better soon. The Hub came back from his trip with a nice cold, too. I'm wearing garlic around my neck.
Ev - Turkey and avo go down a whole lot better than pretzels and pita chips. And as my buddy Kate said:
1 Pretzel - 10 calories
1 Sandwich - 200 calories - - - It ain't rocket science. (Well, not for regular people, but me . . . )
Lordy, lordy I have a ton of transcription. 12 CDs and counting for a murder case. {sigh} It's gonna be a long coupla weeks . . . .
Can't believe I'd totally missed last week's thread!?! Holy Cow! Hope the paycheck reflects that....
Will be checking in a bit more in just a few more weeks - promise!
Congrats to our racers - & good luck to upcomings!
Feels Springish around here...
Not around here. Brrrrr! It was about 27 degrees this a.m. (the coldest it's been so far this winter), so I woosed out and did 30 min on my stationary bike instead of running 3 miles, plus strength/core training for about 45 min. It was so cold in my workout shed. I turned on my little heater, but in the meantime, I was wearing a scanky pair of leggings and a sports bra, both of which are old as dirt, and my big dark blue terrycloth bathrobe. Kept the robe on until I completed my warm up routine. My co-worker likened me to Maxine:
IT band a little tender yesterday evening. Felt good this morning and throughout the day, but I'm bagging the scheduled 9er for another day of rest.
Latr.
aka kameele
Carol--after nine weeks straight of yoga, I don't get the muscle thing, but still a fair amount of "you want me to bend how?" I figure I'm up to doing about 80% of everything.
Leslie--I think your car felt sorry for you after a rough Saturday.
i got out for about 3.75 this morning. A little twinge in the shin for a while, but seemed to go away by the end. beginning to seriously rethink the half on the 28th. Considering the schedule has me running a 10K race this weekend and I haven't been able to go even that far yet, makes me think it might be a good idea to delay a little. I may end up being pretty slow when I finally do do a half, but I'd like to feel a LITTLE better prepared. I'm hoping the extra work will help.
hope everyone is feeling better and having good runs.
Next? Could there be 26.2 somewhere???
I can dream, can't I?
In the meantime--Ukrops' 10K March 31st.
Leslie - love the car as aid station. Sitting and eating a sandwich in the middle of a long run actually sounds lovely.
Joe - um, isn't St. Patty's NEXT week?
Ev - massage really helped the ITB twingies for me.Took me a couple tries with different therapists to get it right, though.
Cindy - so glad to hear Mairead is doing better!
Kevin - 9 straight weeks of yoga, wow! Good for you!
Only short runs most of this week. Ugh. Doing a proper taper now, unlike for Rock n roll Phoenix, it's feeling very...wierd...makes me nervous.
Arla

Heh, heh, heh. Sounds like true taper madness!
