Super Bowl Saturday (Read 35 times)

steve, sorry to hear about the window incident.  I hope there are no lingering effects.  Also, happy birthday to Noah.  Holly, happy birthday to your son.  C-R, happy birthday to the twins.

Nice long runs for  Mike, enke, CNY, and NHLA.  Good job on the speedwork for lame.

This morning, I did a local 5K.  This is the 3rd of a 4 race series.  The turnout was low, 33 in the 5K where the last 2 races had about 100.  Part of the reason was a bigger race in a nearby town and the weather.  It was in the low 20s with some wind and ice covered by a bit of snow on the roads.  It was snowing during the race and predicted to snow all day and most of the night.  I had a new PW for a 5K.  my Garmin had me at 32:09, 3.12 miles, and a pace of 10:19.  I was 25/33 OA and 1/2 in my AG (70+).  After the race, I overheard a comment from a guy who made me think of tet.  He said something to the effect of, "I figure I only have a certain number of miles in me so I'm not going to waste any in training".  I did a mile warmup and 1.9 miles after the race to give me 6 miles for the day.

A good day and good runs for all.

Good to support those races tslebs. Sounded like tough sledding.

Hey Sarge - Costa is an awesome race. Inexpensive but well managed. Course is mostly rolling but fast. There is one incline that never seems to end (it does cover over a mile) but it's not very steep, just gradually and long. Swag is nice and the Indy runners do a great job. Its a definite one to do in my book. I won't miss one. Well that and it is about 1 mile from my front door.

Let me know if you're running. It would be great to meet and I can introduce you to the crew. Some other RA types and just some plain nice runner folks.

Birthday dinner done. We went to a hibachi place. Those guys have some skills with the knives. I think I will go in the kitchen and practice a bit. Wish me luck.

        CongratsTomS on a nice race!

C-R be careful with those knives, I'll definitely let you know if my plans become reality.

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.

Hi Dee Ho, Folks - It's getting late here, so a short one:

15.5 miles in chilly, beautiful conditions with my buddy, Karen.  It was so much fun!  Non-stop talking the whole time.  . . . . . I miss her.

Post of the day! I am so glad you had your buddy Karen to run with.

I miss my running buddy terribly, but next week should be better for us.

8 miles today while enjoying the sunshine, but boy...was it cold out there.

So nice that you got to run with Karen, Leslie. That's gotta be nice. Sorry you guys are so far apart now.

Happy (late) birthday to Holly's DS and C-R's twins! Holly, I think you gave him just what he wanted...

Back to the ice, for 8.2 miles in 15° temps. Was a little chilly feeling at first, but within a couple miles I was fine. My eyes sure water a lot in the cool/cold weather though. Need to stop and wipe my eyes a few times so I could see! Other than that annoyance, it was a good run with only a couple of slippy spots.

No running for me on Saturday.  We had a fun time at the casino/night club Friday night with 8 of our friends, and I only lost $9 at the casino.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
