http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2008/10/omen_citgo_sign.html Hope the link to the photo works (from the Boston Globe). I think it will be okay by April 20, 2009 and still taunt the runners from afar. Phew!
Ja.... I saw that too. I've run Boston 4 times and only really knew to look for it last time. Good to hear that it will be OK and we we'll still be able to meet 'neaht that giant Citgo sign that brings that fair city light... Ray

Very few marathons, strangely enough, have a "one mile to go" mark. I recall that the Marine Corps Marathon was one of the first to do it back in the 70's. The Citgo sign is generally appreciated as such a marker, and I always relied on it, as have many others. Does anyone know if Boston has an official "one mile to go" marker? Spareribs

If they do, I think the crowds were standing in front of it anyway. Big grin

Off Topic alert ... HB, I don't know if you'll revisit your thread. In case you do, I wondered if you checked out the photo gracing the back cover of the Des Moines Dam to Dam 2008 race book. They captured you and a few others near the start.
