Mornin' everyone!
Nice fleece-free run yesterday, Stumpy. Good 5er for Jlynne too, before nasty weather moves in. A nice trail 9 for Tramps, and 7 in the rain for Leslie (shouldn't you resolve the hammy issue before signing up for another long race?).
I hope everything went well with your gas, Tramps. (Should I have rephrased that?)
Thanks for the movie pre-reveiw, Marj.
Feel better, WC, and continue enjoying your time in Greece.
How'd you do in front of the teacher squad, Holly?
Good for you for mentoring, Aamos. I'm sure your student will have a better shot of hitting her marks with your help. Nice 6 1/4 run.
Hi Deeze! I''m glad you're feeling a bit better from head (cold) to toe (well, heel). Keep up the good work.
Sorry you're still under the weather, Twocat. I'm glad you're being smart about race planning.
Mariposai, I have no doubt that you will do a great job with the Conservation District - they couldn't have chosen a better person to keep everyone focused and on schedule.
It looks like my plans for April 19 are up in the air again. One of DW's good friend's husband passed away from cancer (yes, it sucks) yesterday, and they are having a memorial service (in CA) on the 18. So I may be flying home on the 19th. DW's looking into flights and deciding what she want's to do.
We elected our Conservation Commission's officers for the year last night, and I was reelected as Chair. I accepted, but told them that they'll have to elect someone else next year because my butt will have been in that chair for 6 years, and that is more than long enough.
5.6 RW miles at J o'clock in 29F temps. Nice clear, crisp morning.
Have a greta Wednesday! (What day is it...?)
Jay
Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.
Huh? I believe Doug was the one with the gas problem. (Should I have rephrased that?)
Mari (and Carolyn) have the most awesome running photos.
Congrats (or is it condolences?) on the re-election, Jay. Not surprised at all.
Out for 6 in an off-and-on, cold, drizzling rain. Brrrrr.
Be safe. Be kind.
Bad faerie
So, Tramps, when did you stop having a gas problem? (Should I have rephrased that?)
Ran four sluggish miles yesterday, a gloopy, leaden outing redeemed by the fact that I did it in a snow-free, not-too-mushy trail system. I would like to believe I saw it in its last days of dormancy - everything will be busting out in green very, very soon.
Please, oh, please, God let it be so.
Will swim today some time. I am going in with low expectations and hope only that the gentle rotation will help me continue to loosen up my very cranky lower back.

Trails are hard!
Guess they can't say you didn't warn them, Jay. Hope the succession plans work out.
That eel slap was pretty gross, Tramps. We used to catch them occasionally while bass fishing and would cut the line so we didn't have to bring them into the boat. Yuck.
That was a pretty impressive view, Mari.
3.8 miles around the lake. Somewhat slower than yesterday, but realizing that this is the first of two days in a row in a while. Have to get used to more consistent running again.
Need a fast half for late fall. Then I need to actually train for it.
Good morning good people! I didn't realize there were so many of you with gas issues (or should I rephrase that?)
Congrats on the re-election Jay. People know a good person when they see one. 29°? Do you have any snow left on the ground?
Good rain running this morning Tramps. How do you dress for that? Especially when it's cold?
Take care of that cranky back MS. Hope the swim helps.
I, too, am wondering how Holly managed the teacher squad yesterday. I'm thinking it was good news and they all had marvelous things to say about her DD. Like maybe a 4-year scholarship to Harvard because she's such a wonderful student?
Nasty, nasty snowstorm here this morning. Sooooo glad I didn't have to open the Y today. What normally is a 7 to 10 minute drive took me 45 minutes this morning. Several accidents on the highway because some idiots forgot how to drive in bad weather. 4 miles on the elliptical, 4 miles on the bike and 25 minutes of weights and core. Scheduled for a detox class later this morning to teach me how to stop making bad food choices and eliminate sugar and other stuff from my diet. I'm in the process of drinking a pot of coffee before I go in case they want to take that away too
Hope your weather is better than it is here.
Healing vibes to all who need them, including deez, fatozzig, wild, and Twocat. Nice long run, Mike.
This morning, we had some freezing rain. I did 5 miles on the TM at a 10:45 pace.
A good day and good runs for all.

Sayhey! MM#130
wait, so twocat's headache was caused by gas?
Ha! I betcha the rest of the Commission was going "la la la la la la" when you gave 'em that ultimatum, Jay.
Mari, what'd I miss here, when did you land that job, which sounds interesting and scary, too? And agreed, you and Carolyn have the best photos of your local runs. Envy you both.....'cept not Carolyn's weather, not that.
Geez Jlynne, sorry. Really beyond the beyond time for the snow and yukky weather to stop.
Hi tselbs! Hi Mike--did you get into the Marine Corps Marathon?
9 easy for me--we had a lot of fog, especially tricky pre-dawn. Had to take off my glasses so it was dangerous for me (good excuse to slow it down, eh?)
grins,
A

With the VB6 diet I'm on I eat lots of bean salads with edamame, garbanzo, corn, etc., so I can get meatless protein, but there is just one problem with them. Oh, and gas prices should dip below $2 a gallon down here soon. Maybe I should have rephrased that.
Every year in the Dallas Morning News I put up a post about the Twin Cities Marathon and the Global Heroes program, as payback for Aamos encouraging me to do it. I'll put up a link here on RA, but here it is for any of you to share with friends:

Ran 6.4 solo this morning in Nike Flyknits. Felt super and finally had some energy in my run.
This afternoon the Saint, Hudson and I will go to Austin to visit UT. Back home tomorrow night.
Those of you who have run the Colorado Marathon, formerly Ft. Collins will see my post under "Racing" here on RA. Looking for help for a friend who just signed up. Your observations please? Spareribs
Nice run Coastwalker...nice to see warmer temps out there.
Good run Tramps in the rain, although I love rain runs myself.
Sorry you had a glumpy run Mustang Sally
Good for you Stumpy on two runs in a row, hope to do that tomorrow.
Way to keep it up on the treadmill Jlynne and Tselbs, no matter the weather.
Nice to see you have energy on your run Spareribs, wish I did.
30 minutes in sunny crisp weather here. Finally out after 3 terrible days with a flu....will try and do hill intervals tomorrow afternoon to build strength. Two weeks of running in the bag, legs are strong, lungs not so good and I have zero anaerobic, so that is why I am doing hills tomorrow. Who knows I might do a race this year. Would be my first one since my two DNF's in 2009,.
Healing vibes to all. Be safe

Has anyone started watching "Better Call Saul" on AMC? It's supposedly the prequel to Breaking Bad and I'm really liking it.
Jlynne, my wife and I were huge Breaking Bad fans and we both think that Better Call Saul is a lot better than we expected it to be. You can see those Vince Gilligan directorial touches and it's nice that they brought Mike in as a link to BB. But I'm not sure anyone would get that much out of it who had not seen the other series.
Congrats on the new term of office, Jay.
OK, I'll fess up to the gas problem, but at my age it's not that unusual . The guys knew what they were doing and had to pull down some of the heating ducts in the basement to be able to get at the gas pipe and move it over. Now I can go back to Lowe's and re-order our stove!
It looks like I might be off running for a while, so I'm looking to ramp up my other activities (biking season can't arrive too early!). Today I achieved a new milestone and actually swam a full mile in the pool at the university. Took me an hour even (including breaks), but I got there. And I can credit my Garmin for helping me do it, as I've found that trying to mentally count that many laps is tiring and in the end I forget where I am anyway! I expect to be tired and a bit sore by tomorrow.

Well, let's see, drooling, doddering and gassiness all around - must be the Master's Forum!
Re: the teacher conference - apparently the teacher who requested the conference was the one who got sick and left early for the day, because the other teachers had no issues or concerns with DD at all. (Okay, they admit she's a talker and a social butterfly, but we already knew that.)
65 minutes on the bike trainer this morning watching Grantchester and then news.
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Holly S. Murphy's law bites again!
coastwalker congratulations or sympathies as may be appropriate on your re-election!
Tallrunner good luck with your continued recovery. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get to do a race this year.
I wanted to report in all is well and I managed to get in a run between classes and meetings today. Alas, my headache returned with a vengeance. I did a bit of research and may have stumbled onto a clue regarding what the cause is. I am going to ask my GP about it tomorrow when I give him an update. If my stumble upon is right the fix may be as simple as stopping a drug I am not actually convinced I need to be taking anyway.

Holly, LOL!
Roch - congrats on the mile!
Tall, I hope you get to race this year too!
Sorry about the worst headache of your life Twocat... Hope you find an easy solution.
mari - we need to catch up!
I don't think I will defend my Mother's Day 5K AG 3rd place title from last year. Too out of shape right now.
But good news is I ran last night, only 3 miles, but that was only 2 days after my last run, and my knee did fine! Perhaps it will just get better and better from here. My theory is that a combination of folding my leg a certain way on the bus everyday, plus running on canted roads, plus having the dog in bed pushing up against my leg every night was constantly forcing it slightly out of alignment at the knee. I have some freelance work to finish tonight, but then if I have time, would like to try another 3 mile run.
