Hi Holly, and thanks for keeping this going. Is your marathon on a Saturday? When I trained for my first, I did my long runs on Saturday and it matched up great.

Is your marathon on a Saturday?
No, the next one is on a Sunday, April 5. Usually I prefer to do my LRs on Sunday, but this time out I seem to have a lot of schedule conflicts with Sunday mornings, in addition to more social events on Saturday nights, so I am doing LRs on Saturdays much more than before. Once outdoor soccer starts, though, I won't have Saturday mornings so available.

Tks Holly The official results have been posted. I was 11th overall out of 70. But two of us beat the old course record for 51 yr olds, and he wasted me (3:07). Thanks again for keeping us going here Holly. I'm going to have to ask for a pass this week as I have been struggling with a little ache in my right hamstring and achilles and was given advice to take a few days off. While struggling with the thought of actually not runnning for a few days in a row the decision was made for me as I became quite ill Sunday night into Monday and am still recovering. It seems I contracted some sort of intestinal bug that was going around, DW had it last week and the flu shot I got this year sure didn't help! Anyways I'll definitely take a few days off for sure Cry then I'll see about hitting the road again at least by the weekend. MTA: Feeling much better and itching to get out and run so I gave it a go yestserday afternoon: Thursday - 5.02 miles easy - 39:54 - 7:58 - Avg HR 135 Max HR 151 - Sunny & 46° (that 151 peak is something I've noticed with all of my runs...I seem to peak out after the first quart mile or so and then level off, I never went higher than 143 during the rest of the run even running a bit harder the final tenth of a mile or so.) Friday - 6.16 miles - 48:35 - 7:54 - Avg HR 141 Max HR 153 - Cloudy & 50 ° - started out at a nice easy 8:00 pace and finished the last couple a bit harder with a final MP mile at 7:38. Saturday - 8.11 miles - 1:05:24 - 8:04 - Avg HR 135 / Max HR 163 Sunny & 33 ° .5 mile cool down - 4:05 - 8:12 pace Sunday - 11.84 miles - 1:43:14 - 8:44 - Avg HR 129 / Max HR 139 - Clear, windy & 17 degrees - A dog came out of a yard and took me out at about the 4.25 mile mark of this run...he was playing but it still sucked, took my legs right out from under me. Put me down for a pass this week. Been fighting a cold and had a relapse Sunday evening (after I cut a 15 miler short due to tight hamstrings). Got home that afternoon and had to hibernate until this morning. No running until at least Saturday! 5.45 miles today to go with 15.55 last Sunday = 20 for the week.
