40/40 Thread for Week Ending 1/18/09 (Read 669 times)

Marathon Maniac #957

For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here’s what I have for last week’s tally. Let me know if there are any errors. I was noticing that we have a lot of 7-day runners in the group.

Holly, Thanks for these threads. I'm the hardest person that I have to answer to but there's something about throwing it all out there for everyone to see too.

Heh, thanks Holly. But remember that my treadmill gets quite a workout in the winter months, too! Holly, this will be a less-than-40-mile week as I "reverse taper" and spend more time on home stuff.

Hi Holly, I've been doing most of my runs on the treadmill these days. Easier on the joints, controlling pace/effort and better than doing nothing. Unfortunately I think my treadmill is cheating on meCry. The relationship isn't going anywhere and why am I the only one that sweats and makes mewing noises...and where did this rash come fromConfused Last week went great...except for that darn root yesterday at around mile 7...stubbed my big toe and had an awkward tuck and roll fall with fuel belt bottles spilling outBlack eye. Despite my amazing skills at testing graity I managed my longest run in 10 years or so...15 milesBig grin planned for 44/45 last week got in 45. This week Mon - 4 Tue - 4 Wed- 8 Thu - 4 Fri - 8 Sat - 4 Sun- 16 Total = 48 miles Good luck to everyone!
I didn't hit the mileage I wanted to last week due to waking up late on Sunday and not having time to do a full wave run, but hopefully this week will be better. Monday - 3 miles easy TM (24:30); one hour of pilates Tuesday - 11 miles (1:25:45) Wednesday - 5 miles TM (40:50), weights and core Thursday - 8 w/3 tempo - 6:38, 6:51, 6:45 - total 1:00:29 Friday - 5 easy (39:40) Saturday - 16 long (2:05:30) Sunday - 5 recovery (41:40) Total: 53

Hey....Hi Bruce. So happy to see you posting at the 40/40....well, I haven't posted here for a long time now, so I assume you haven't been posting. Oh well, good to see you here regardless. Well Holly, hopefully in a month or two, I will be back up to 40 miles and join the group again Smile TimBo

All runs were at an easy pace this week because the Mountain Mist 50K is next weekend. Also, the arctic cold front also hit Huntsville so I ran twice on the dreaded treadmill rather than outside in single digit windchill (and 7 Deg F actual temp one morning). Sunday's run was the best, a 13.1 Mile trail run over frozen tundra with frozen waterfalls and icicles everywhere. Here's a couple of photos, one of training partner Rebecca and I and one of one of the more scenic waterfalls both taken by another of our running buddies. http://tomjen.smugmug.com/gallery/2308320_jm5VE#457273807_dipaj http://tomjen.smugmug.com/gallery/2308320_jm5VE#457274527_Fn3HX
