Didn't run in the sun this morning but the sun came out after the run which made it IRC. Ran a 5K at our local resrvoir-2 loops and flat. It was. Small race (about 300) and we ran the 1/2 mile from home to the start. Marj didn't want to race so she did her own thing and paced me foe the last mile. I ran my fastest 5K since I turned 80 and finished 2/2 in the 70+ AG.

Tonight we're off to hear the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall (a wonderful birthday gift from Marj).

Enjoy the weekend and happy running and racing to all.

          Good luck Mariposai!

Henry, you are an inspiration at any age, but I just love hearing someone running a 5K at age 80. Good for you!

Got in a brisk 3 miler at the park with the Saint this morning, just to get my 35 in.  This is the 5th consecutive week of 35 or more miles.  I'm also thrilled to see the change in my running since adding the protein and getting my energy back. I hadn't realized how much I have deteriorated until this week when a friend posted a picture of me in a race in 2010. Five years ago I was racing quite well, even after the heart surgery in '08.  I'm confident I can get back to this kind of shape, even though I will be slower because of the aging. I will never give up.

            Hi all,

Just catching up with what I missed in the dailies since Tuesday - beautiful pics of Riley and Hudson, but Ribs - WOW!!  I'm sure you still look fantastic!!

Henry you definitely are an inspiration to all!! Hope you and Marj have a great time at the Pops!

MikeE - maybe I missed it, but in case anyway hasn't already said it -- you are pretty cute!!

Posai - you amaze me - hope you are having a great race today!!

No running this week but had a great 90 minute bike on my indoor trainor Thursday while my little princess was napping - hated to bike inside but needed to be there in case she woke up from her nap. My youngest son was home but studying for his last couple of finals and I didn't want to add watching Maria to his workload.

Yesterday I squeezed in a 1000yd swim and 5-6 min pool running before work. Have been walking the mile both ways from my garage at Fenway to the hospital this week and so thankful for the nice weather!!

Today long bike ride 34.6 miles with avg speed about 15.2 -- not breaking any speed records, but it feels so good to be out there!!

Tomorrow - my Mother's Day starts with the New England Season Opener Sprint Tri - hope the water temp has warmed up a bit this week with the warm weather we've had!!

Have a wonderful Saturday my friends!! Welcome to all our new/returning members!!

            denise

Love it that you're running a trail marathon today Mariposai....enjoy, enjoy!

Nice racing Henry and what a terrific birthday present/celebration tonight.

Good work Ribs and glad to know that the energy is returning. Protein is really important and if you are trying to be more plant based, you have to be really careful. Can't imagine you'd ever give up anyway! What a handsome and accomplished young man you have in Hudson. Congrats to all of you as you launch your youngest.

Just back in from a 12 miler. Cool and overcast at the start and sunny and warm at the finish. Nice neighborhood loops and lot of folks outside---perfect Saturday.

I don't think I have any more energy than the average bear even with all the travel. If I don't run while I am on the road for work, I'd be a cranky, ineffective beast. I clear my head, get exercise, and get my game brain in order before I head to a client campus or make a presentation etc. I think the only way I survive the work travel is by running.

              Great photos Tet!

              Hi Denise!

ribs, nice picture of your son.  henrun, congrats on fastest 5K since turning 80.

Good job on the long runs for Twocat and CNY.

This morning, it was in the low to mid 60s with just a light wind.  Another nice morning.  I struggled through 6 miles at an 11:41 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

The reason Jay wasn't here to start the daily conversation, he was out on a 13mi "walk" along Lake Winnipesaukee...

Very cool!  Thanks for posting that milktruck.

                      Nice pic of Jay.

Sunny and very warm day here!  A bit too warm maybe for today's trail 50 and 25K.  Ran the 25, and despite needing a couple of pit stops,  got 2nd AG. Hung with friends at an aid station after to see the last of the 50K group go thru.

Thjs morning I ran in a local trail race I've never done before, Tough As Nails. there' s a 5k and a 10 mile.  I did the 5K. Challenging course on "Roxy Ann Peak", amazing views of the Rogue Valley below. I'll have to go back and just walk/hike it sometime because I didn't stop to soak in the views. ran a 29:00 and came in 2nd AG.  Post race party was fun with a keg & lots of pizza that was delivered right as I finished and the usual oranges/bananas/gatorade, etc.

David had a good meet last night. ran a new PR of 9.54 and came in 4th OA, 1st freshman. Nice podium finish which he hasn't had yet this year. Big meet with about 16 schools present, so he's real happy with his performance.

                        Sayhey! MM#130

Hiya!  Super photos today!  Love the one of Jay in action!  And always nice to see Ribs and David.  Looks like Mari will have had a pretty run.  Thanks, tet!

will be thinking of  you and the Tri deez!

have a fun evening marj and henrun.

ran a 5K too, on sandy trails; slow but then we all were (about 400 of us). 3/250 wimmims and master's, then hangin' at the beach with DH.

then chores and such.  making Mexican for supper and watching "Gone Girl."  I read it, so it should be interesting.

and yes, we listened to the game.....creative ways to lose, is how we look at it.  It's got to get better...right Kev?

Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful moms.  Take time for yourself and enjoy.

Carolyn and all...it's supposed to snow 8-12 inches in Rapid tonight.  It's 30 something there.  Reason 840: why we moved to FL.

7 total for me, so got to get in a longer one tomorrow.

                          grins,

                          Marathon Maniac #957

Love the photos today of Jay and David an Ribs, and yesterday of Ribs' fine boy.

The city where DH works has free mulch if you come and get it, so DH and I went this morning to shovel a trailer-full of the stuff.  Then on the way home our trailer blew a flat tire on the highway, so he unhitched it, took me home so I could go watch DD at her tournament softball game, then went to buy a jack and fix the flat.  After the game, we shoveled and spread what I calculated to be nearly 5 cubic yards of mulch on our flower beds.  Then I moved a bunch of river-rock-border-stones and roto-tilled my small garden area with my small roto-tiller (think jackhammer).  Pretty much 4 solid hours of good yardwork cross-training in the sun on a lovely spring day.

DD's team won their first game last night but lost today.  The end of the softball season, and time for a break.  Whew!

4.4 miles for me today in 67 degrees.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Tammy, I just love proud parents.

This last week has been a whirlwind. It's been the best work week ever. Customers had gone well out of their way to welcome me back. I caught an important mistake a supplier made. Earlier in the week, a coworker introduced himself as the one with the sense of humor. That's good to know. We had a delivery come in late Friday. My new coworker had been touching base with me regarding an order that came in while the driver was preparing for unload. When the driver came up, I used my best slavik, middle eastern accent and said, "Goot! Is mine yes?". I made a sweeping gesture to the truck. "Is all yes!". The driver pointed to which units were our products. I tried making a struggling sad face and tapped my chest with my fingers. "So...So...So..English is so goot.". "English Is No Goot! Yes!" Somewhere along the line, my coworker stepped back a bit. The driver kept talking louder and pointing to our stuff and I'd say, "Is no!". After a bit, I said, "I'm just *** tting ya. Let's get you taken care of. Seldom have I seen anyone laugh so hard.

I've had gas in the tank for getting the dog out for runs after, time for posting anything intelligent is tight.

I was supposed to work today, however, Noah asked in we could race. I asked if I could come in late and the boss said, "No worries". Noah's 7 now and the fact that he wants to go is such a blessing. The race is at a campground where I've pushed the little dude in a jogger for miles along the roads and through the trails. We looped around the paved sections of the campground, Noah started dawdling and Avenger Doggie was driving me nuts trying to catch the other runners. When we passed the start again, Noah left his shield with DD#1 but held on to an umbrella. Opened up he helped him run faster. As soon as we hit the trail section, there was a fair sized hill. "I can't believe we have to go up this great big hill!" I related how we've gone up the hill in the jogger and as soon as we got to the top, he's say, "Go again 'Rampy!" Noah laughed and picked up the pace. I said he was pretty tough then and he's tougher now. He handed off the umbrella and one jacket.  And he picked up the pace.As soon as we were on State land, I unhooked Tag so he could get a workout. Then Noah started collecting pinecones. The tiniest ones ever. He needed the jacket back for more pocket space. Then decided to only keep the specialist pinecones in the world. We had to go back and get a 2nd turkey feather so he could hold one in hand and run like a falcon flies. Oh!!! A Stick!

We made it back just as the awards were starting. Avenger Doggie was back on the leash. A number of people went to the finish shoot to cheer us in. I got beat by a 7 year old. Long story longer. Noah took 2nd in the 14 and under. I took 3rd in what the hell ever AG. I didn't look at the breakdown before we started. On the way home, I got Tag and ice cream.
