Well, after feeling so totally awful last night, I am so ready to run today! Looking forward to a more-or-less quiet house, and I'll crank out 8 or so on the treadmill. Amazing how just "not" running when you don't feel like it makes such a difference. This listening to the signals your body sends thing is amazing. Sue, good luck this weekend. I've always thought the Goofy would be fun to try, but don't know that I'd have the wherewithal to pull it off! Will be looking forward to hearing how it goes (are you running the half all out? or just EZ?). Also looking forward to mc's and Tim's race reports. This is only Thursday and I'm already so impatient! Good runs or whatever you're doing, everyone!

To everything, turn, turn, turn, there is a season... 4.5 miles along the Hudson River at lunchtime in 43:00, 9:33 pace. 40F is a far cry from the record high of 64 we had yesterday around lunchtime, but I'll take 40 in Albany in January anytime. Signing up for the Pinebush Triathlon, my inaugural tri: 325 yd swim, 11.5 mile bike, 3.25 mile run. bty

Good morning. Rest day for me and just in time as I'm fighting a head/sinus cold and ended up cutting my planned 5 mile run last short to only 3 miles. It was a carpy run. I'll work on core work tonight, including planks! For some odd reason, I'm enjoying planks. I'll blame it on Souci and her plank challenge a few months ago. Shy

              Tammy

McS, I was really looking forward to your Phoenix race report. And it didn't disappoint. I'm glad you warmed up quickly after a cold start. I'm {insert "glad"/"sorry" here} you were {insert "not" here maybe} happy with that time. X:XX:XX is a great time for us mere mortal runners. Way to go! Those women are fast, especially the Trials Qualifiers {insert XXX here}. The thing that stuck out for you was {insert "not" here maybe} really very interesting. Thanks for taking us along! Enjoy the easy running. Bill

"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong

                One day at a time

Sunny and 38 degrees F. 4.0 miles at 11:43 pace, almost exactly the same as on Monday. It's funny, because it doesn't feel like I'm that consistent! Different route, too. I timed it so that I ended up at a small cafe for breakfast. That could become a tradition! Good running, everyone! Teresa
I did the 2nd of my "Big Workouts" in my spring marathon training - 13.9 miles @6:39 - 10 fast miles - 6:17, 6:27, 6:18, 6:20, 6:13, 6:21, 6:09, 6:15, 6:12, 6:12. Feels pretty good although I like to run these closer to MP... MC- Great race yada yada yada - Enjoy your recovery yada yada yada - you'll beat those gals next time yada yada yada yas.
Thanks, Jlynne and Erika! Erika - I'm not planning to race either the half or the full. If the temperature should miraculously drop into the high 30's low 40's I might consider racing the half, but I haven't done a proper taper or really prepared for racing. Doing both isn't as hard as you might think. The key for me is napping all afternoon following both races and, of course, eating like a pig after both races. I felt bad while waiting for the start of the full marathon last year, but after the first few miles, it wasn't bad at all. I expect it to be better this year if we don't have any temperature extremes. Tammy - I'm with you on the planks. Dark Horse - good to see you running again!

Holly, unfortunately I'm still a pound overweight (or alittle too short), but another 10-15lbs with some muscle exchange would be closer to in shape. I'm headed in the right direction at least. RBB, killer nice run. Started with some XT 55min 1 walk 6.25 recovery run .5 walk Trail was slurpy with cold rain falling JJJ

It's a gym day for me! I'm about to leave for the gym to do weights! I am so faking being happy about it! Amazingly, I have been very self-disciplined and have only run one time since Dec. 23, when my little ankle ache re-emerged. The eliptical is my friend! Of course, the slip-up, I should confess, was a bit of binge: Running from an Angel Marathon - Jan 5 - Boulder City, NV Erwin Vargas, 30 of Colorado Springs CO, won the 2008 Running From An Angel Marathon in 3:22:16. James Honchar, 43 of Dillsburg PA, finished second in 3:31:28. Raymond Churgovich, 42 of Broomfield CO, was third in 3:41:15. In the women's division, Amy Yanni, 53 of Rapid City SD, who had 11 top-3 finishes and 5 marathon victories in 2007, won her first of 2008 in 3:56:43. Pamela Kennedy, 39 of Monticello FL, finished second in 4:06:03. Tricia Perrine, 18 of Hesperia CA, was third in in 4:08:52. I'll just trundle off now and say my Hail Pre...... grins, A

MCSolar - congrats on your great finish. Don't worry about those women who beat you - I think they have the same trainer as Roger Clemens! Dark Horse, welcome back. I'm sure that first run felt pretty good - just don't overdo it and get yourself back in the same mess. I've been reading all the posts about planks and core exercises. My goal is to try to incorporate more core training (especially stomach) as part of my training. Runners World had a great article this month, but some of you have talked about videos that you use. Could you recommend one or two? It seems like it would be more of a workout to try and copy the moves of some young, shapely woman (or ripped guy) as opposed to looking at pictures in a magazine.
