I don't know how many people know this person but he leaves a cautionary tale.
He doesn't participate in any races locally, but he is mentioned on the Striders' Board whenever someone gets to reminiscing about the "good ole days"..barf.
He was out running Friday and had a major heart attack. He laid there for no one knows how long until the police found him and called an ambulance. He was not carrying ID with him so he was entered in at Baptist as John Doe. He did not have any classes until 3:30, his wife was out of town. Only until 3:00 did someone at the school miss him and started to call area hospitals.
He is still in the ICU at Baptist ... and he is too physically fit and too young to have a heart attack.

Why is it sideways?
He should have had an ID or something on his person.
Now it's your turn to eliminate personal references. Point well made ... and I apologize to the man.

weird.
i don't think i know this person, but the past few weeks i have felt compelled to strap on my road ID every time i go running. i say "weird" because i had pretty much forgotten about the thing until i few weeks back when i saw it and thought... hmm.... need to get that updated, but figured it was better than nothing at all, so i put it on and have been wearing it even though it doesn't list asthma and lists as one of three contact phone numbers a landline we no longer have.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLY!!
thank you!
Happy birthday! Sorry that I was not playing nice yesterday.
In case you haven't noticed, I can be rude and direct in my interactions with others.
Out there running since dinosaurs roamed the earth

Is there a reason we are not mentioning this person by name? I know who it is and am wondering why no one on the Striders board mentioned this incident and I don't know why he is not mentioned by name here.
The tangents are moot.
Because I thought that it was bad form to publicize another person's health problems... maybe I am wrong about that?
I don't see a problem with mentioning the name. I know when Chris Thompson had that incident at the Striders training run he was more than happy to share his experience so others could benefit, but I guess I pretty much believe privacy is a thing of the past.
