I haven't been running much the last couple weeks , I do need to start again,  maybe tonight .

QOTD: I thought I needed to try something so I signed up for a hot yoga class . I went down and they explained it to me as I was early they said go sit in the room until the class starts . It was hot , I think 105 with @40% humidity , I sat there thinking this will ok . Several people came in and whispered to me if you feel dizzy or just bad lay down,  the goal is to stay the whole 90 minutes . The room started to fill maybe , 25-28 people all sweating raising the humidity . We started the class , the poses were easy standing poses I knew,  I was surprised at how much I was sweating . About 20 minutes in I started to feel bad , dizzy , pukey  really too hot . I stopped and realized I didn't want to try for 90 minutes , I wanted out . I made eye contact with the instructor , mouthed I'm sorry , gabbed my stuff and bolted . I made it 25 minutes total , felt crappy  the rest of the day . I do need to find something else but it won't involve a 105 degree room .

    This....just....sounds.....crazy

I don't blame you for bolting.  If I am going to sweat, I want it to be because I am exercising, not standing in a room full of people.

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

    Endless trails

Wow, what a day here in NY! I was out early for a hike and to clear my trails then

I went home and brought the dog back out on the cleared trails. Now I'm heading

      out for a little run.

Jamie: Nice, and congrats. I just got an interview for a position at our county

psych center, admin position but right up my alley.

LB2: I've been using dew pt as my guide for a few years now, 72 is oppressive.

QOTD: The only thing I do consistently is say a little mantra to myself at the

beginning of my trail runs; "thank you for keeping me safe in the woods today."

I'm still breathing so maybe it works.

      Are we there, yet?

Crazy warm November temps. A very easy 5.3 mile recovery run today. That hot yoga sounds insane.

QOTD: No special routines out of the typical warm up, if any. I don't bother with warm ups for the marathon and ultras.

Awesome. Good luck to both of you on getting the new (promoted)  jobs!

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

I ran 5.5 this morning and had a nice time.  I decided to F around a bit and went on different trails then the norm.  One trail just petered off and with two dogs on those long leashes we got pretty tangled up.  That ended up being a 17 minute mile.

QOTD: No I don't stretch.  I have been going to the gym and doing these classes.  At the end we do a "runners" stretch.  Every time she says that I'm like do runners really do this??

Jamie:  Thanks I needed that.  Although I said I was doing a lunchtime 5 in yesterdays post it never happened.  Don't worry though I may lie in the dailies but I never lie on the training log.

            Blargender:  Good luck tomorrow.

Daydreamer:  When you get an answer to your question let me know.  I have a few really bad habits I need to quit!

MTWarden:  Good luck to you too..

Valerie:  What Jamie said...it actually sounded gross and stinky.

It is a much better indicator of how things actually feel than % humidity. You can have a relatively high humidity and low dew point and be just fine. That stuff yesterday was just crazy.

One good example is that the forecast for my race next weekend calls for 77% humidity, but the dew point is 43*F. That will be very comfortable conditions.

Woke up a few times during the night with a scratchy sore throat and a little wheeze. Hope it doesn't get worse as who needs to be sick? This was a scheduled rest day anyway so hopefully a good long sleep and I'll be good to go tomorrow. We are over 20 degrees cooler today. As much as the last few days were gorgeous I like the more seasonal temps.

QOTD--In conjunction with the run seldom except sometimes a series of calf stretches as I'll go thru periods of tightness or even a little cramping from time to time. But I have to do a regular stretching routines so 3x per week a good session of stretching everything out and then a number of core exercises.

Daydreamer and NHLA-- I have done some reloading in the past but maybe have a couple dies left laying around now. It's a lot of stuff to get and setup and I don't shoot much anymore so why bother.  However a number of years back I took a Rem 700 to the range in 30-06. My friend had a high tech chronograph along so I was using Rem factory rounds with 150gr. psp's.  With those factory rounds I shot 1 1/4 groups and every shot came within 25fps of each other. They all were a little under the published velocity but still kickin". I could never handload to get that kind of consistency. I pretty much stopped reloading after that.

                Faster Than Your Couch!

                  Last?

SRD today, wasted the day away at work.

But now I'll have two days in a row off from work, so I can see some nice runs in my immediate future coming up!

I have had trouble with the thumb that I injured on my last fall about two weeks ago, now the base joint is so unstable that I can't open jars, hold a knife, turn doorknobs, etc. So I went to the walk-in clinic of the orthopedic surgeons and was see by a PA, who apparently is not sufficiently qualified to deal with that kind of injury. The brace they gave me contradicts everything I have read about thumb injuries (and everything I have seen when my DD, and a co-worker, had similar injuries), and causes even more pain. So I got an appointment with a hand specialist next week.

I just hate it when a simple fall incurs so much trouble. If it was just pain, I'd tough it out, but it's at the point where it interferes with my work, so I'll have to do something about it.

Valerie: Hot yoga is just insane. I know the "hot room" as "turkish sauna" (with about 100% humidity), and I'd never do any yoga in such an environment. Seems to be for some hard-core yogis?

Harrier: Hope you'll get over that cold before it can fully strike.

Good luck to all our racers this weekend!

QOTD: Nothing really. I usually just stretch out my legs a little after a longer run, and bend my body to relax, that's it. And not always. I'm lazy.

                  Run for fun.

                  Sandy-2

                    Nope, I'm always last....

very rainy in all day here.  I did 14, that's 14 hours of sleep.  Felt great, I needed it. It was a great day for sleeping in 'til noon.  After some hanging around, I did a rainy 5 miles.

qotd:  just some stretching and a little bit of core stuff.  It I go too long without doing some core stuff, my lower back starts barking at me.
