Super sundaily (Read 40 times)

Hey, all! Did the Groundhog 7 today--all paved, sadly, but I did set a PR. This race is important to me because three years ago it became my first and so far only DFL experience. Last year I returned and set a PR--there's a RR over on RW somewhere. I had less to prove this year, but it was still good to improve some more. Still waiting on official chip time, but my Garmin says I beat last year by about 17 seconds.

QOTD: I can't remember ever racing sick. Undertrained, yes (see: the Groundhog 7 DFL). I think I've just been lucky enough not to be sick on the day of a race I've signed up for.

    Faster Than Your Couch!

moonlightrunner: Good recovery, take it easy. Starting to run while still having to deal with weight loss and getting your nutrition right is not easy. A relative of mine had GP surgery, and last time I saw her, she had lost 120 lbs and was aiming at 30 or 40 more. She looked gorgeous, and said she felt so much better now. Hope your journey will go just as well!

Sandy: Woohoo, great job! Do we get a PR (pacer's report)?

majope: Congratulations, great race setting a PR!

warden: Congrats, way to tough it out!

birdwell: Hope you had a nice rest day!

TT: I love to be the first one to blaze the trail in fresh snow, and marvel at all those critter's tracks!

jonfer: Take it easy, slow and steady does it!

traildc: Nice building! Hope your rest day went well!

      Harrier: Nice miles!

John: Sounds like a wonderful morning run!

AT: Hope you'll feel better soon again!

      Jamie: Enjoy the day off!

Banshee: Great miles! Hope the weather gods had mercy on you!

Have you ever run down an ice waterfall? That's how my trail down the mountain was today, steep, and the rocks covered in ice, dusty snow on top to keep the most treacherous spots hidden. Should have worn my microspikes... but, learning the hard way seems to be my thing this winter!

Can't wait to read all the RR's soon!

      Run for fun.

      2/3rds training

Went for my first run in Wissahickon Park this morning.  It was not long but I really enjoyed the park with the fresh dusting of snow.  Unfortunately it's just a bit too far of a drive to run there more often.

QOTD:  Dunno yet, I have yet to run a race that costs anything.

Got in a nice lesiurely 4.5  miles this afternoon after getting out of bed at 1:30 (i worked last night). Then had some school work to do. Hopeing to get some trail miles in later this week.

QOTD: Ran a trail marathon with a weak knee last fall. I don't know what I would do if I were sick. It would probably depend on if the race had sold out. If it was a sell out then I would probably try to start just out of respect for those that didn't get in.

A ride up both sides of the wonderful Old la Honda Road this am.

Then (and now), work, and then dropping off some food for a husband/wife (both hit by cars, wife is a former pro cyclist).

            Be safe out there!

Everyone is done with their day and my friends from midwest to the east are probably asleeep.  Did 18 on one of my favorite trail, took pics so will post to porn another day.  Had friends over for the game (aka food and company).  We had an office pool; on the sheeet they listed the 49ers with two 9 and no sixes, for the ravens they listed 2 nines, one six and no twos...fukiiiin*g government employees!Blush

Today was a good day.  But I still may buy an AK.

moonight runner:  My sister in law had that surgery.  She dreamed about what she would do (physically) when she was thin.  She is thin and not doing it.  My point is, go into the woods for the woods.  Enjoy the trees and all the beauty the woods/mountians have to offer you..whether you are walking or running.    That will make you happy and fufilled and make the running a good thing not a thing you need to do.  These are thoughts not lectures...I am happy for you and totally welcome you to our forum.   I want you to get the bug.  Smile
