Faster Than Your Couch!

    G'day,

Hot and humid, so I'll head out soon for another heat run. I did 8 gravel road miles yesterday in hot humidity (81 deg and 85% rel. humidity, maybe more after the rain) at a perceived "easy" pace - turned out 8:25 pace. I think my fear of a thunderstorm may have upped my speed a bit.

DD2: Good luck for Finger Lakes! Should be a nice race.

T&C: Have a good run later!

Jamie: The silence before the storm?

AT: Don't get shot - didn't you mention a few days ago they were still firing canons? Wink

O2: Time to enjoy some mud!

Chnaiur: Good memory still - some extra mileage is only beneficial!

    zilla: Go get that bunny!

sugnim: Sounds like a great extended weekend coming up - just not for the chickens...

TT: The animal kingdom going wild! What kind of snake was it, any idea?

    Tmo: Nice morning miles!

DD1: Enjoy the rest - if it has to be, there's no use fighting it!

Snowden: Sounds like jetlag - did you speed your boat lately?

    Watoni: What's a Hangar steak?

QOTD1: 155? Not sure, a few miles got lost.

QOTD2: I have never had special July 4th food on July 4th. I guess a burger with bacon and grilled mushrooms would do.

    Run for fun.

    Watoni

      Watoni: What's a Hangar steak?

Oops, it is a hanger steak, but I know it as onglet, or the bloody skirt. It is the classic French steak for steak frites, so a little shout out for the help in our little war to gain independence I suppose. It is my sons' favorite.

I should have gotten up and run but I didn't.  Husband wants to plan 4th of July but I think I want to just chill at home and maybe watch fireworks at night.

qotd: This is a tough one...I want to log my runs on Running Ahead but have not been doing it.  My garmin is at home so I have no ideal.  Since the Are you happy with your weight QOTD I've gained 5 pounds so I should really track it better.

          qotd2:  German potato salad.

          chnaiur:  Where are you?

Did 10 miles along the canals of east London this morning.  Highlights included, along the Thames, Limehouse basin, Regents Canal, Victoria Park, Olympic Park, Limehouse Cut... back along the Thames.  A really nice run.

qotd 1: haven't added then up yet.  I'll let you know.

EDIT:  239 miles.  That includes my little trip to Athens, London, Shanghai, Pusan and Tokyo.  (Who knows how many air miles that is...  just kidding, of course I got all those frequent flyer miles.)

            qotd 2: Burgers and dogs.

              chnaiur:  Where are you?

I'm in Sweden, where I'm originally from. My company was kind enough to let me work from here for almost four weeks, so I'm letting my kids get to know my parents. Trail running is really great here, because the undergrowth is really sparse in the forest you can go pretty much where you please.

I managed to pressure a friend to make a 4th of July BBQ for us tomorrow, so all is well on that front too.  :-)

Btw, Hanger Steak is great as a slow cook as well. I rub them with spices, wrap in aluminum foil, and let sit in the oven for two hours at 300F.

70.9 miles for the month.  Tough to get motivated.  Many runs were shortened.  Run Quality Down.  No Event on the horizon=poor motivation.

Ran 3.11 miles tonight east with a 3k "race" tomorrow. I'll run easy "pacing" a friend's girlfriend while he runs the 10 K.  I guarantee I'LL have fun.

Got a big hike in the Wind Rivers in 10 days.  TThen I'll try to be ready for a half Marathon trail race on the 27th...
