1st on the QOTD--My favs are Brooks with a 5"inseam and back pocket(s). Have 3 pairs. Next would be some Asic's also 3 pairs, with I think 5" inseam. Comfy for the long run. Once I find a brand and style that works I keep buying them as long as their available regardless of price. Just like TrailsnCocktails,  I hate lousy shorts.

2nd-- Good for you Jonfer. Problem is though- that work thing really gets in the way of recreation.

Lastly--Had a funny thing happen tonight--I was leaving the local Farm and Fleet store and when I got to my car there was a guy putting things in his car near mine. He started to talk to me and since he was wearing a running shirt  and had a recall Walker sticker on his car he had to be alright  Smile. He had noticed my DNF sticker and was laughing about it. He thought it was awesome and wanted to take a photo of it and send to his buddy. We had a short chat, cool guy, but he just  kept saying over and over how awesome that sticker was and he got it. Funny, I guess. Who knew?

            Uh oh... now what?

              Got out.  Ran here

QOTD:  Lands End?  Brooks?  They are shorter than what is fashionable,

color is a little brighter than beige.  I don't go out in public very often.

Very pretty! I love how the PNW can turn from farm into ocean so quickly.

Big grin for Jon.  Woo Hoo! And yes I concur that you need to be careful not to let this new job cut into your running time.  Hopefully you told them what your priorities are.  All kidding aside, good luck!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

                  under a rock

Fraggle - I feel your pain.  I had/have herniated disks in the same area. I ended up unable to walk with a pinched nerve, severe pain and weakness down my left leg. Ended up getting a root sleeve block which sounds sort of like what you may be getting.  The one PT told me that my lower spine does not curve enough and is a major reason for a lot  of the pain from herniated disks. Apparently most peoples disks bulge some but if the curvature isn't right then it pinches on the nerves quicker. He told me to roll up a towel and use in for lower back support when I'm sitting. It's worked for me for the past 12 years. That's not to say I don't still have some problems, but just not nearly as much. Exercises also helped some, but again not as much as the towel roll. Good luck and keep trying to move especially walking.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I'm guessing what I'm having done is what you had done. They are calling it a Lumbar Epidural Injection. They will do it guided by xray. I've managed to stay active for years with the pain but it's to the point that it has stopped me from running which was the final straw, it hurts my back, hip, and down the outside of my leg. I'm actually pretty annoyed that the last time I went to a Dr about this, 4yrs ago, all they did was an xray then, when the xrays were clean, they just gave me some stretches to do. They never thought to refer me to a specialist or to have an MRI. Luckily the insurance we have now I can decide on my own to see a specialist without approval. I'm just so thankful now to have an answer to what the root of my pain for all these years has been. Being brushed off as just needing to stretch my back made me feel like I was crazy for complaining about pain. No amount of stretching is going to fix this.
