The pooch and I had a great 5 mile trail run. It was cool and nice. Tomorrow morning there is a winter storm advisory.

SRD today. I did some speed work yesterday. 8 800's at 3:20 with 400 recovery after each. Today I feel like I did speed work.
Must do more speed work.
Do you think it's a coincidence that teams from Washington and Colorado are playing in the SuperBOWL?
“Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Taking a rest day...feeling funky with slightly sore throat. Hope it's nothing. Chore day.
QOTD: What's one of the worst job you ever had?
I worked for a temp agency and they sent me to a spice company where I had to scoop spices out of a barrel and place in smaller containers. It was So Cal, over 100 degrees and I was scooping red pepper flakes and my whole body was burning. I quit after that.

Occasional Runner
Road miles and some time at the gym. I'm working on speed so I'm logging a bunch of road miles every week. It feels good to run fast.
QOTD: Interesting topic. I got laid off at the end of the year, so I feel like my last job was the worst, but it really wasn't. It wasn't a bad job but I got treated like shit on the way out. I spent 6 years, traveling all over North America, building that company and none of it meant anything when it came time to cut costs. Annoyed. To top it off, I got an email on Friday from the owner of the company, asking me for some help on a legacy project. What a dick.
I worked in a fruit warehouse when I was in high school. I sat at a long conveyor belt and sorted cherries as they rolled by me. That lasted about 6 hours.
QOTD: In college, I worked for a guy who had a surveying company and we worked in downtown Washington DC doing land and building measurements before demolition. I was constantly climbing through and over trash or stepping over homeless people while holding a tape measure. The guy was a real jerk and was always yelling at me. One day I heard on the radio that they had caught the Aspen Hill rapist and it was my boss. I had to pull over because of the shock (this was a huge story in the DC area for years). He's still in jail.
Faster Than Your Couch!
Run for fun.

Afternoon all!
SRD for me today. Last week I hit ~45 miles + 3 hrs on the bike/rollers. Biggest week in a long time. I spent some time looking at my past running and I am really excited about what this new level of consistency will bring for this year.
QOTD: I worked the overnight shift as a valet during college. The job wasn't that bad (not a lot of cars to park between 11pm-7am) in itself, but I used to have to go straight from work to my 8AM class. If traffic was bad I would show up for class dressed as a valet. I was a broke college kid at the time and I recall being anxious, hoping I would make enough tip money to put enough gas in my car to get from work to school and back.
**Ask me about streaking**
Endless trails
SRD for me.
AT: Damn, that's a helluva story. That dude looks like a nasty character.
Lace: I noticed that you hadn't been talking about work-related travel
for the past few weeks. I though you'd been with them for a longer time
than that, but I guess you've been in the field itself longer. QOTD: When I was 13 my dad lied about me being 14 to get me a job on a
charter fishing boat. I had to get up at 4:00am and ride my bike to the next
town, and spend the day dealing with bait and fish, IN THE SUMMER! That
lasted 2 full days before I went back to delievering newspapers.

In the field for 22 years. I came on board with that company when they started it, and was one of the first employees.
running under the BigSky
strength training this afternoon
qotd: most of my jobs have been pretty good, but when I worked for the Forest Service we were often called to fight fires- the work was hard, but the pay was good; what made it bad was breathing smoke- I'd be coughing and hacking stuff up for a week
2023 goal 2023 miles √
2022 goal- 2022 miles √
2021 goal- 2021 miles √
Got in 6 last night and try for another 6 or so tonight.
Lace, that stinks about your job!
At runner wins for creepiest boss, wtf!
Jamezilla, congrats on the big week!
Worst job I had was delivering pizzas, except instead of delivering pizzas they had me washing dishes all night in the sink, I lasted 2 hours and went out for a smoke break and just left!
Thread killer ..
5 planned today
QOTD: Not really a bad job just a strange working environment . When we moved here I needed a job so I walked into a casino and got a job the same day . The job was as a host , all I did was walk around and talk to people , if they gambled a lot I gave them "free" stuff , dinners & rooms . The bad part was being in the casino for 8 hours , the smoke , the noise , the crowds , the drunks , the freaks, a very strange place to work .
SRD for me today.
I got laid off at the end of the year...
lace_up: Shit that sucks. Tell them that you'll help with the legacy project as a consultant, at twice your salary.
AT: Holly crap!!!
qotd: I worked on a freight boat in high school, I had to lug stuff on/off the boat and my whole body was sore every day. I felt like my back was never going to be the same and didn't think the physical abuse was worth it. Plus I had to be at work by 5:30am. I think I lasted about 3 or 4 weeks.

Refurbished Hip
Howdy gang!
I got in some nice snowshoe runs this weekend -- Saturday with NorthernHarrier (and he brought me beer...win/win!) and again Sunday on some different trail. We're supposed to get some more polar vortex bullshit weather here shortly, so looks like I'll be running tonight. Sadly, just a road run.
Kelly -- that sucks. I didn't know that. So what happens now?
QOTD: I pushed carts and bagged groceries when I was 15. That kind of sucked, but I think everyone should have a shitty job like that when they're a teenager. I think it makes you into a nicer person.
Running is dumb.
Working today from home but still hoping for a run or a ride later
QOTD: I had some typical teenage jobs, but I liked bagging groceries. It was a nice grocery store and I learned a lot about different fruits and vegetables, wine, coking, etc.
I worked for a family law attorney for a summer when I was in college .... that was worse (e.g., serving disgruntled spouses with restraining orders) and more dangerous than doing death penalty work in Georgia in law school.
Being on call often 24/7 in my current job is tough at times, but I would be a fool to complain.
On the other hand, wow, AT and Kelly. Kelly, I am glad you did that job on your own terms more or less the past several years, and hope the next chapter is a great one! AT -- that is one for the books (well, if he were in my books, I would burn my library)
