Occasional Runner
Inspired by the QOTD.
I like to see the different events that people put on their race schedule, and every now and then, I find a cool new race to participate in.
Share your plans here, or steal some race ideas from others. Personally, I'm trying to backfill some empty weekends with short trail races and hope to get some ideas from this thread.

I chuckled when I saw these two.
I look forward to the race reports of them where you swear off road races forever, again

I'm totally serious this time! I reluctantly registered for Boston because I think 2014 will definitely be the year to do it and I don't run road marathons often enough to feel like I'll qualify again any time soon. And Comrades...well...it's a DOWN year and I need the matching set! Plus, I loved South Africa. But seriously...After that, I'm never running a road race again!
2014
June 7- Shadow of the Giants 50K South Yosemite http://www.bigbaztrailraces.com/
Probably the summer run series as well from that same group
Lottery for 1/2 dome a few times.
Oct 11- R2R2R
November 29thish- Quad Dipsea
I don't think I'd run a road race even if I had free entry. Some of the small community ones are really great, but the big ones like Nike woman's and Rock n Roll are just treacherous.
I'm looking for a race in Montana and another in Alaska if anybody can toss some ideas my way.
February 22, 2014--Mt. Cheaha 50K
November 1, 2014--Pinhoti 100M
That is it unless I win entry into something like I did yesterday.

I hope you recover fast -

sugnim is in MT, but her wife also just had a baby, so I she's probably too busy to pop in here. Maybe AKTrail will stop by.
I've been considering this one in Alaska as my first 50-miler. 38 self-supported miles. There is also a 100-mile option.

That looks great! Thanks.
2/3rds training
2014 will be the first year I try to race a bit more consistently, or at least build some semblance of a "racing season" to build towards and focus on. So, depending on how well the base building goes this winter...
April: Zane Grey 50 miler along the highline trail in AZ. Lace I think you'd like this one; all rough technical singletrack with steep and sketchy climbs and descents. This will be a huge test and challenge to kick off the summer.
May-Sept: A series of 7 races in the Flagstaff trail racing series, all between 10k and half marathon in distance. Focus will be on building some speed into the endurance required to finish the Zane Grey.
Sept: Flagstaff trail marathon; a relatively flat course but at 8k or so of elevation. Hopefully the speed gained in the shorter races over the summer will help out here.
Oct: Canyon de Chelley 55k in AZ or the Mt Taylor 50k in NM. Both look like beautiful courses.
Oct-Nov: Grand Canyon r2r2r.
My not-entirely-running-related 'Gram
I've been sick and injured for almost two months straight, but I'm trying to think of that as my recovery period for 2013. That should mean I'm in a great position to execute on the plan I've been tossing around in my head for a while now. (RIGHT???)
March - Way Too Cool 50k
April - Tehoma Wildflower 50k
May - Gold Rush 100k
June/July - Self-supported runs in the Sierras
August - Skyline 50k
