Homemade energy bar recipe (Read 365 times)

    3/4 to 1C Honey

    1C Peanutbutter

    1/2C milled flax seed

    1 1/3 C Oatmeal

3/4C chocolate or dark chocolate chips.

    1/3C Cocoa Powder

     Sesame seeds

Heat honey and peanut butter on low/med heat until well blended.

Add chocolate chips until fully melted

Add remaining ingredients and blend very well.

Pour and cool in an 8x8 pan (pre spray with non-stick)

Sprinkle with sesame seeds.  As many or as little as you like.

Let cool in fridge overnight and cut into 1 inch cubes.  Store in fridge for several weeks.

These suckers are great pre-long run.  Packed with proteins and carbs.

You can add finely ground coffee for a perk or chia seeds for a turbo boost.

Perfect pre run, during run and/or post run.  Enjoy!

This recipe looks very good - yum!

Do you know of any dark chocolate (no milk, please) chocolate chips that are also soy lecithin free? (brand names, please). Thanks for posting.

Tried out your recipe and I must say they were very delicious. Thanks for the recipe.
Thanks Tacoma.  Glad to hear someone make them and enjoy them.  Very easy recipe.  My next batch I am going to add the chocolate chips after the batch has set (melt the chips then dip the bars in the melted chocolate)  Chocolate hardens and the end result, chocolate coated bars.  Might be on to something.

These look really good.  Unfortunately, I can't eat peanut butter when I run.  Nauseates me. Boo hoo!
