London to Brighton date... (Read 365 times)

Hi All Sorry been a bit busy over Xmas and have not ventured onto here. Well L2B is on my radar but just working out how many Ultras / Maras my body can cope with in a year. I am almost certain to take on the Classic Quarter Ultra (44m along Cornwall Coast from Lizard Point to Lands End) on 27th June i think, but have Paris Mara in April which i am targeting as a possible PB to try and qualify for Boston then the Classic but with a couple of Biathlons in-between. All this training is not exactly impressing the wife as it is without adding more races, as she says she doesn't mind me doing the events its all the training for them!!! Anyway i am sure you lot will keep the pressure up on me to do L2B so who knows. Glad foot is ok Jerry, i am currently 8 days into recovery from small tear to left calf, not running is bl**dy frustrating.

    2011 Goals - Run 2 x 100+ mile races (16+17/04/11 London Mara x 4 - 22hrs8mins)

    5K: Sub 19 (24/07/11 - Bushy Park 18:55)

    10K: Sub 41 (19/03/11 40:50 - 2nd 10k of below race)

Half Mara: Sub 1:32 (19/03/11 Dorney Lake 1:26.50)

Mara: Sub 3:15 (on a road course)

Still thinking...... and still marginal on whether I want to do this..... Here's another thought ...... MdS .......... in a few years time ......
OMG MdS, now wouldn't that be something. I watched the TV programme about it last weekend, I never, ever realised what they had to go throughShocked

MdS! MdS! MdS! MdS! Do we have the makings of a team here? (I will never get the pink ticket for this one)

What was the secret, they wanted to know; in a thousand different ways they wanted to know The Secret. And not one of them was prepared, truly prepared to believe that it had not so much to do with chemicals and zippy mental tricks as with that most unprofound and sometimes heart-rending process of removing, molecule by molecule, the very tough rubber that comprised the bottoms of his training shoes. I saw the same documentary on the MdS Jerry..... and now I'm definitely interested. I'd be interested in finding out when the next event is that they still have places for. The MdS would be easy compared to the conversation I'd have with my wife trying to talk her into letting me go. Apart from the obvious dangers it's damned expensive. I don't think you'd get much change out of £3,000.
A friends boyfriend is doing MDS this year, he got in via a charity place for Mencap and has to raise 6k sponsorship Shocked. I dont know if it appeals to me as i am not a great lover of very hot weather, although i saw the Jungle Marathon programme the other night and a few people who had done MDS were doing it and said the MDs was nowhere near as hard. Then again 1 stage of 21k took 7hrs so not exactly easy going........
